Yes! I will be getting my first Atari computer, I grew up a Commodore kid so I never experienced the "other side of the tracks" so to speak lol! Just picked up a 800XL with PSU/Joystick and Dig Dug cart, looking forward to joining the wonderful world of ATARI! Also on the way is one of the C64 models the Commodore 64C! You can bet unboxing videos will follow! Unboxing vids upcoming on my MaximumRD pages (Youtube/Facebook)

Sorry the vids have been slow in coming, great stuff coming soon please hang tight! I promise it will be soooo worth the wait and just for the record I have a great idea for a series I want to start in my videos, don't want to give anything away until I premiere the first one but IT'S GOING TO BE REALLY COOL!!!!!!

I've been considering getting into the retro computer scene a bit more. I gre up with a C64, and read Computer Gaming World. The store I bought my games at eventually sold Amiga, and Atari ST games. I'd like to have one each of those machines, as well as an Apple II, but have not yet been comfortable buying them; complete systems of these sorts sell for a little bit more than a classic console.

I do have an Atari 800XL but have not done much with it as I use my Atari XE for the most part. Also I have a TRS-80 which I have never even plugged in, should I?

I understand your excitement; please leave us a link here to your vids.

You will have fun with both systems. Im envious as I dont have a Commodore 64 yet. I do have an 800XL though. I got it at a local flea market from a guy in his mid twenties who was leaving and didnt want to take it with him. For 1 Dollar I got the disk drive, 800XL, about 30 games INCLUDING all the cords and the super rare M.U.L.E game by Electronic Arts. (goes for hundreds on Ebay). Lucky for me he also had an intellivision with a few games and all the cords for 1 dollar. lol.

I got hit with the retro-computer bug somewhat recently, as the C64 in particular is a machine I LIVED on for over a decade. At first it was pretty difficult to obtain ONE C64 in decent shape, now I have THREE (two brown and one newer 64C)

I also have an 800XL and an XEGS. The only Atari computer I ever had in those days was the XEGS however, and I did not do nearly as much with it as the 64. I am quickly realizing tho that this computer was equally just as incredible.

I would HIGHLY suggest SIO2PC and C64TPC. These will allow you to run disk images from the PC right to the Atari & C64 respectively. No need for a disk drive at all :) It is truly the moern evolution of the classic computers, and they enable you to have access to thousands of games/programs/demos/apps at the click of a mouse :)

My personal next step is to revive "The Wrong Number" or maybe "Splatterhouse BBS" (my two BBS's back in the day) and telnet these from a real C64 right to the net :)

IIRC there's a "good" Dig Dug cart & a crappy Dig Dug cart. The good one came later & has graphics like the DataSoft disk vers. The earlier DD cart looks...indescribable.

But you'll have tons of fun w/ the 800XL. C64 & 800XL had lots of games in common so track down some Atari exclusives (Star Raiders, SR 2, Necromancer, etc)
