HI guys,

I found just the base console for a TG16 at Goodwill, no hookups, controllers, or anything. What kind of RF does it take, and what kind of AC adapter?

Do you have a Nintendo RF adapter? Use that. You can use AV out if you pick up a turbobooster.

As for AC adapter, good luck. NEC AC adapters are tough to match.

The stats are here (http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=repair:pcepowersupplies), but the answer for a TG16 is that you're looking for a 10.5V, 730mA AC Adapter with a negative polarity.

Not really, a model 1 Genesis/SMS power supply works just fine.

good 'nuff. I've been trying to properly match other NEC consoles (PC Engine duo and PC Engine GT) and I'm having a bitch of a time. I'm glad the tg16's easier.

TZD has new tg16 ac adapters in stock for 10 bucks:

edit: hey, I'll take some of my own advice, TZD has a turbo-express/pc engine GT AC adapter for 20 bucks new.

Thanks for the quick info, guys! As it turns out, I tried both NES and Genesis AC adapters, as well as NES and SMS RF cables, and nothing worked. This thing might be DOA. I'm having my friend take it home and test it with his TG16 hookups. We shall see!

TZD.com is out of business. Atleast when I tired to order, it was pending for a couple weeks, so I canceled the paypal payment. Check ebay and search for turbografx rf. There should be a guy selling a universal ac adaptor and rf mod for ~$15 + shipping. I htink his store is game_squad.

umm... you might have killed it when you plugged the NES AC adapter. The TG16 takes DC but the NES adapter outputs AC. AC output with DC consoles is a big no-no.

That might be the case. Ah well, if it dies, it dies. I got it cheap anyway. My friend who is generally knowledgable about game consoles seemed convinced that an NES plug would work, so I trusted him.
