Rock star, pop artist, rapper, whatever. You just have to be able to play the musician at some point in the game. Here's one to get things going:

Twisted Metal 4 - Rob Zombie is the driver of the "Dragula" car.

Can you think of any?

Journey Escape on the 2600.

There were games on NES and SNES based on The Blues Brothers; I'd say they count.

For that matter, Dan Aykroyd's likeness also appears in Ghostbusters (Genesis) and Ghostbusters II (NES).

They don't really fit since you aren't actually playing as them, but it's always worth bringing up the cheesiness of the Sega CD "Make My Video" series (Kris Kross, INXS and Marky Mark).

Edit: Haha, two of my three legit nominations got mentioned by others while I was typing my post. You guys are fast. :)

Okay, here's one that's kind of out-there: The Three Stooges (NES). Larry Fine was actually a skilled violinist, and did his own playing in many Stooges shorts such as "Punch Drunks" (1934), which one part of the game is based on.

I thought of that too, but you don't actually play as Aerosmith, however, you do in Guitar Hero Aerosmith! Guitar Hero World Tour, and the forthcoming GH:Metallica, also have playable famous musicians.

Anyway, away from rhythm games, I'm surprised no one has mention 50 Cent's game, Def Jam, or NBA Jam Tournament Edition, that game had Will Smith in it.

Rap Jam!

Sorry, I'm gonna have to strike that one from the record, because when you actually get into the game, the characters look NOTHING like the true-to-life portraits from the player select screen. I was extremely let down by this.

Agreed. I cry myself to sleep every night know that I will never be able to be Queen Latifah, even a pixelated virtual one.

Stranglers, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Wham, Beatles, Samantha Fox, Maria Whittaker (she sang), Kylie Minogue all these appeared in Computer and/or console games in the early/late 80s, or in Kylie's case, Street Fighter the movie, during the 90s (Although she did appear in the video game 'Neighbours' on C64 and Amiga computer as well)

Didn't the Genesis version of Shaq-Fu even come packaged with a CD single from his album? Certainly sweetening the deal right there. (I know, I know, he got skillz...) :)

Kind of unfortunate that we never got a game tie-in to Shaq's cinematic masterpiece, Kazaam, isn't it?

The Bill and Ted games...kinda sorta. Doesn't/didn't Keanu Reeves play bass guitar in some band or something?

Not sure if you actually get to play as the real band members or not since the characters are only based on them but what about KISS Psycho Circus? If any band would have a video game it would be them...they had merchandise of every other tangable form imaginable.

Oh, I think there were other musicans in NBA Jam as well. I think Heavy D and the Beastie Boys. Beastie Boys were also playable in one of the NBA Street games I think.

There is some mix cd with shaq on it, with about 10 other nba stars, like Isiah Rider, Dennis Scott, Malik Sealy (RIP), Ceballos, and a few others. So Every nba player on that cd, with every basketball games they've been in. 30-50 games at least. Someone should do some number crunching on this cd to games these players where in total.

I'm quoting you. LOL

It's the first Smackdown game for PS2. Smackdown 3 Just Bring It.

There were a few mentions of "Journey Escape" which is the 2600 game, but in the arcade game (just "Journey") you get to play as the entire band lineup.

And let us not forget this winner:

-True Crime: Streets of LA: If you collect all the "dogg bones" hidden throughout the city, you can play as Snoop Dogg.
-True Crime: New York City: With 100% completion, you can play as Redman.
