Okay, this is going to be unbelievably specific, but if you're headed to Retro Gaming Expo 2009 *AND* are thinking about selling an NWC, let me know. I'm in the market and would like to make an exchange in person.
Auction sounds like fun, guessing some of that stuff is from Gerald?

Gerald, the owner of that item, told me the story. I'm sure he can fill in the details, but my recollection is that it was a promotional item available only in Taiwan. I think you had to buy a bunch of Sanrio merch or something to get it.
It's a legit XBox, still in the package - not a casemod or replacement case. Apparently only a very small number were ever produced.
I'll see if I can get Gerald to provide some pics.
I'll be posting more info on the site about the auction items within the next day or two.

That's the rumor, but no one has ever been able to confirm the number produced (if any were sold at all). Mine was found in the US, and i'm guessing this one was too.
The press release announcing the console came out on april 1st 2003, so a lot of people thought it was a joke. It took 5 years for even a photograph of the console to show up.
No one can find any evidence that the promotion ever took place, and no one in Microsoft can even confirm that the console was produced (even though i'm holding one). The serial number is asian, so they can't track it here.

After I saw Gerald's the last time I was up there I did some digging and talked to a friend in Singapore who definitely saw the promotion run. He was pretty sure that it was not technically bundled with a TV, just a purchase amount. Will try to provide more details... can you send some higher res pictures of the box? I can get the text translated.

I bought a Master System today, and outside of the built-in Snail Maze, I don't have a single game for it. I'll be looking to stock up on SMS stuff at the show.

The show is less than two weeks away! Please help us spread the word about our show to all who you know that would be interested in coming. The next two weeks we are hard at work at making this the best one yet. There will be a product at our show for most everyone, from Atari to Xbox!
On a side note, there will be several homebrew items at our show this year. Pick any main system and we probably will have it heavily supplied at our show with consoles, games, accesories, and "other" items :)

It's crunch time....next few days I am going to be spending on finishing the price lists for everything I am bringing to this show. I am tired of video games at this point almost. My friends and people who know me don't really realize the effort it takes to price everything piece by piece. I am taking my time and making sure I don't miss anything. This year I am going to have a lot of random stuff.

My non convention friends that think we've been only working on this at our leisure then. I should of been in more detail. Does it have wheels? Tow it behind your car. You know what you need Corey? A giant rack for your roof so you can do some serious hauling. But I'm sure if that would be JDM or not.

I'm totally excited about the show this year, it sounds like it's gonna be a ton of fun!
At least three of us Pink Godzilla/Gorilla guys will be making the trek down from Seattle on Saturday night so we can hang out at Ground Kontrol for a while and remember what it's like to be in a real arcade. Discs of Tron, here I come!!!
I'm trying to add to my classic console collection this year, hopefully with a nice looking Channel F. I've never failed to find something amazing at these shows, especially the pristine boxed Odyssey 1 I scored from y-bot at Jet City Retro last year.
Can't wait until Sunday!

On Sunday I am bringing a duffel bag of super cheap crap, but a lot of promo shirts, some Game Boy Color protos, an NES proto, and lots of random Famicom stuff, but it's nothing like the stuff I used to bring. It will be cheap, so buy me out please. I will be at Dojosky's booth.
Most of the stuff I buy these days are DS and Wii games I don't have, and arcade PCBs and marquees and weird Famicom stuff...needless to say I don't spend much these days at expos unless it is for resale, then I spend a lot because I do have a store I need to sell stuff at = )
