Yeaaaaa, another chart: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/grand-theft-auto-iv-is-most-rented-game-of-08/
Of the top ten rented games of 2008, the only ones I wouldn't go near are Army of Two and Mario Party 8. Interestingly enough, the PS3 had NO games in the top ten:hmm: You know you're doing bad when people don't even want to rent games for your systemLOL But who knows, maybe the majority of PS3 users downloaded demos as opposed to actually going out to rent a game. Anyway, here's the full list:
1. Grand Theft Auto 4 (360)
2. Call of Duty 4 (360)
3. Halo 3 (360)
4. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (360)
5. Army of Two (360)
6. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
7. Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii)
8. Fallout 3 (360)
9. Assasins Creed (360)
10. Mario Party 8 (Wii)

Considering how many more consoles there are out there for the other two it's not *that* surprising to me, until I recall the must have PS3 game that is MGS4.
Maybe all PS3 owners bought it instead of renting it, but Halo 3 is on that list and it's got equal cache on 360 so I don't know what to make of that list.

Well most people like to rent games to decide rather they want to make a full fledged purchase or not. And considering atleast 8 of these 10 games(maybe all 10) sold over a million copies, I'd say that many of the people that rented them first decided to pony up for the whole shebang. Of course, I also realize that many of the sales for these games came at release from fans who didn't rent it because they knew they'd like it anyway.
Also, whats up with people "adding" typos when they quote me? This is the second time someone here at DP has done thatLOL

Super Smach Bros. lol.
The only games I could see renting before buying on the list would be:
Army of Two-New IP. Reviews varied.
Fallout 3-not sure if it is goona kick as much ass as it did.
Assasins Creed-Reviews are like black/olives. Love or hate.
The Wii games I can see also. Just to see how they stack up with waggle.
GTA 4 cause your 'rents won't let you play it and/or you're at a friends house.
Myself, I haven't rented anything movie or game since the 16 bit days. unless Netflix counts. heh. There used to be a mom and pops place that actually rented Neo Geo games back where I used to live. That used to blow my mind back in the day. Also used to make me jealous of the kids that would actually pick up a Neo case and take it to the counter.

Wow, Fallout 3 was high on rentals... that's a great game, but judging that game on a rental, unless it was done on a weekend with plenty of time to play the game.

I've had my PS3 for 4 months and only own 2 games. I mostly rent because the games I do rent still cost 60 bucks.

Keep cheaking your local Target and Circuit City for their selection of clearance and discount PS3 games, some priced as low as $7.98-19.98. And NO they aren't all sports games. Also check out my clearance/discount game thread atleast twice a week for the latest deals: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115238&page=10

I don't really agree with that, especially since "most" is a little ambiguous.
I'm sure lots of people do rent to try a game before they buy it, but lots rent just because its cheaper. You can rent a game like Halo and finish the solo campaign in like a week easily. I have a buddy who does just that (for games he wants to play but doesn't really care to own, he'll rent them, beat them, and be happy he got to play but only shelled out $5-$10).

I wonder if this data includes GameFly? I did not see it mentioned.
