Ok, I modded my PS2 slim by blocking the sensors with tape and using the swap trick with a PS1 game. It works with burned discs, but I can never seem to burn a good copy that doesn't skip during cutscenes and such. I was thinking of buying some of the import PS1 games a local shop has, but was wondering if they'll work using this method or just burned games will.
Thanks

Sorry lol. I'm pretty sure that the imports will work but others here will know more on that than I. I haven't ever modded a PS2.

I think I tried some kind of swap method with a Sega Saturn once upon a time. I never could get it to work lol.

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I have a Swap Magic 3.0 that I bought for my PS2 back when I was still burning games.

The other day I wanted to test one of my NTSC-J PS1 title. My swap Magic 3.0 permits me to run PAL/NTSC-J for PS2 titles, but upon testing it didn't work for this PS1 title. I had to dust off one of my PS1 console with a modchip to successfully run my game. So I'm not sure you can run NTSC-J games with your PS2 using your method.

Swap Magic is for booting PS2 games ONLY not PS1 games..........

Depends on the version of the PS2, on a PS2 v9/10 I used Final Fantasy 7 (NTSC-UC) as a swap disc and Tokimeki Memorial 2 as the import, just let it sit at the browser, swap then press the X button. On a v1/2 system it wouldn't work no matter what I tried. Note that I do not have a swap magic disc, I just have a case mod for several systems.
