There was that skateboard controller to play Tony Hawk. Also if you want to talk arcade games, there is Top Skater, Alpine Skiing, and some other Skateboard game as well... Forgot what it was called

There was a foot controlled mouse for the PC, released in the mid 90's. The only reason I know about it is because I recently watched a computer show on youtube and that was advertised on it(the show also talked about Phantasmagoria and Mechwarrior 2).

I don't remember the name of the mouse, but if you want I could find the link to that show again.

Yeah, the Roll & Rocker was a piece of garbage foot controller for the NES made by LJN. The Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed it, along with other NES accessories, in episode 47:

Wii Fit

Actually, the controller is called the Balance Board. Other Wii games besides WiiFit use it too, like Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip and We Ski.

-Atari Joyboard

The Joyboard was by Amiga, though for the Atari 2600.

Don't forget about the Exus Foot Craz. There's also the Footpedal, but I don't know who made that. If you want to stretch the definition a bit I suppose you could add in the various controllers that work with an exercise bike.

I picked this up at EB years ago for $4.99. It's made by Naki and is compatible with the PS1 and PS2. It works by applying sensors to your hands and feet and also includes a sensored floor pad. The funny thing is that I've never used this before. But atleast now I have a reason to show it off.

Rock Band/GHWT drums (well, play with your foot at least).

Ooh ooh ooooooh!
Don't forget the STEEL BATALLION controller!
That massive beat had foot pedals too. I didn't own it, but borrowed it from a friend who shelled out the $200 for it. The game was ridiculously difficult (as would any game with 30+ buttons, 2 joysticks and 3 pedals).
The coolest part? Every button would light up in sequence upon start-up.
:)

Yes, I also seem to remember another skateboard game with a board besides Top Skater...anyone else?

By all means, please post the link good sir!

I can't believe it's been long enough for those shoes to be back in style.

If you have some pics/links, please post. Also, I considered listing the SNES fitness game controllers (for the Speed Racer game, etc.) but I thought they might be more on the fitness/exercise end than the interactive/game control end of the spectrum. DDR and the Balance Board I included because they seem 50/50.

Yes! I love stuff like this! That box art. The badly-proportioned Sagat rip-off. The subtitle "Fighting Game Simulation System". Especially the art on the pad itself that looks like it was taken from a Final Fight marquee. What a great conversation piece...you should take it out and demo it one day just for laughs. Thanks for sharing!

The ad is at 24:53, it's still fun to watch the whole show though. I don't remember the 90's looking like that, I must be getting old.

Don't forget Air Trix, the spiritual successor to Top Skater. Also, Pump It Up.

Good topic.

Although I'd far rather see people operating regular controllers with their feet.

And actually do a good job of it, ha.

Thanks for this. I'm hesitant to add this one just yet since they really only mentioned it in passing, don't know if it was actually released or not.

I ended up watching most of the video, though. Great stuff, some informative, some mildly hilarious. Especially at 26:25:

"A dedicated game machine...is a good idea even if you own a PC. My main reason--well, to be honest, as great as the games are that are out there today for the PC, half the time they won't install on your computer."

Heh the more things change...

If you are including the Steel Battalion controller, are you including any of the driving wheels/pedals? From the Colecovision expansion module to the Xbox 360 racing wheel, you're probably looking at 10-15 different pedals to add to the list.

List updated to include the Exus Foot Craz for the 2600.

You have a good point. I wanted this to be a list of controllers where the primary input method is feet, legs, etc., so I will omit the Steel Battalion controller and racing wheels, since the pedals are usually for secondary control (speed, brakes, etc), similar to the exercise bike games.

For people who don't know, in the last level, A8 on the floor, using your toes on the spacebar to catch the orbs.

Pretty inventive use of the 'board. I would classify this one as an interesting one-off, like "resetting the computer" by pressing reset on the system at the end of X-men for the Genesis/MD.

Thanks for all the submissions everyone!

If you're including Para Para Paradise for arcade are you going to include the home console version? Even though it is more upper body.

Edited list: Para Para is now in the foot/body section with the Genesis Aura Interactor as well as the arcade section.

How have I not seen the arcade versions of the Time Crisis games here? Gotta use that foot pedal if you want to shoot...

You are thinking of the "Sega Activator." As far as I know, the Aura Interactor is a rumble vest that operates by taking in RCA audio cables from any system.

A very good point. Actually the foot pedal makes you jump out or hide, not shoot, but still a vital gameplay component. Added the series to the list.

Thanks Vectorman0; looks like I got my peripherals mixed up.

Press pedal = come out of hiding, release pedal = hide. Can't shoot if you're hiding lol.
