Got the email from a friend of mine who things I'm dusty enough to be a big fan but I never got into any of the text-based games really. But... still, Zork as a MMO? That could be interesting.

Would've been cooler to have The Lurking Horror as their storyline.

Looks cool, but I'm a little worried that it doesn't mention the involvement of any of the Infocom guys who did the originals.

Well I don't think Nemesis and Grand Inquisitor were made by the original folks... oh wait...
still - if you have people that were fans and know the flavor... it's not exactly hard to mess up Zork - it's almost all story. Interactive fiction, even in a persistant online form with some graphics all boil down to writing.
so... who's writing it?

Actually I thought Grand Inquisitor was funny as hell and a great game. Nemesis on the other hand didn't seem to have ANYTHING to do with Zork, it's like they just slapped the name onto a generic game to boost sales.
It's definitely all going to be about the writing. That will make or break this thing more than anything.
I'm not holding my breath...

Well, it's got Activision's backing, who owns all of Infocom's intellectual property nowadays (AFAIK). I realize that means diddly-squat, but still. I have a feeling that most of the authors of the IF golden age were/are reclutant to get back into that business again.
Meanwhile, I'll just have to find where my left my enchanted Lantern of +2 Grue Avoidance...
