View Full Version : What are you hoping to see from Halo 2?

I'm hoping for some creative online modes, like mission modes that could be against NPCs or wars where you could be against other online players or NPCs.

I'd also like to see more hidden/secret/easter egg stuff. Exploration wasn't really rewarded in Halo.

I just finished the game on heroic, and it's alot easier second time around. Plus I don't feel obligated to kill every damn monster.

Anyone else see the DVD with gameplay from E3. I'm not a big Halo fan but the game does look like it does indeed kick ass.

I hope to see a gun pointed into the middle of the screen where you walk around a 3D world shooting things/people only this time with much improved graphics, lighting and textures on the walls, corridors, and overall environment. giving *drum roll* MORE REALISTIC GRAPHICS. errmm.. wait a minute I thought we were talking about Doom3.. or was it Half Life 2.. who knows anymore
-_-

...Wake me up when FPS's get the "Parodius" treatment :D Imagine being a walking Xbox shooting cd's at cute looking clowns, cats and turnips.. then getting some power up that allows you to fly and bomb targets... oooh la la 8-)

Ok so maybe that sucks.. I'm just tired LOL.. goodnight!

That's a good question. And, you know, I don't really have much in mind at all. I expect the graphics to look better. And I'd better get the same compelling storytelling. Not sure how you top The Flood though :D

I expect the Banshee as a multiplayer vehicle...which as I understand, it will be :)

I hope for it to come and go as soon as possible. I mean really, what else can be done other than better graphics? I bet it scores right in there with Unreal II.

I expect
1. Better Graphics
2. Improved Storyline
3. A bunch of new vehicles
4. Inventive Online Multiplayer modes (tournements, basically not just variations of CTF)
5. New guns
6. More enemies swarming you all at once.

That the head of Bungie is visited by 3 specters in the night that show him the error of his ways and convince him to move the series to a non-evil platform, so that we may fairly proclaim that the XBox doesn't have one thing going for it.

Alright, I am sick and tired of people ripping on the Xbox because its SOOOOOO evil. What's so damn evil about it? The fact that its made by a company wanting money? Hello, nintendo, Sony, Sega, damn near every single company ever in any business wants money.

So that can't be it. So what else could it be? Could it be the excellent online network? The standard hard drive? The 4 controller ports? the fact that you can't yank the cord out of the console? Or maybe its the fact that its the first american system to really be a competitor in years. None of these sound really evil to me. So enlighten, all of you who diss the box, as to what makes it the great satan. I mean, I don't think its the best system...but its no more evil then say, a neo geo, or a master system.

Honestly, the word "evil" is almost exclusively applied in a joking manner. Anyone who believes anything can be neatly divided into "good" and "evil" is...okay, let's not get into that.

When it comes to hating the XBox, everyone has their reasons. I really couldn't care less that they're "out to make money." It bugs me that MS is shouldering its way into a business that's suppossed to be light and purehearted (even though I know it isn't, always). It bugs me that they've embodied the heartless mainstream with their gigantic, ugly hulk that has nothing going for it but powerful hardware. And people are falling for it, hurting the other companies. It's everything that's wrong with the industry wrapped up in a package. The game industry has a heart, or at least as close to it as any industry can. The XBox is a cruel symbol of the fact that people are happily willing to forget heart for pretty pictures. Or, in this case, the potential for pretty pictures.

At least, that's my reason.

(Edited to clarify a point.)

The reason I think the Xbox sucks is that it's a totally unimaginative unoriginal hulking piece of watered down PC trash. Maybe if I could get one for $50 I might pick one up, solely for Panzer Orta, maybe Steel Battalion. Halo? Please. It's a damn launch title and it's still the first thing out of any Xbox fanboy's mouth.

It was designed to put out pretty looking numbers just so every retard that could toss up $300 could say "I have the most powerful console on the market, that makes it kick ass!" Woo-fucking-hoo, and it actually worked.

It's so sad that the now-majority of the videogame market is 20-something guys who want madden and gta. Now the market caters to that instead of the people who have been around since the NES and want fun innovative games, not fucking updated rosters.

And now, Seven reasons why the Xbox can suck it. (http://maddox.xmission.com/xbox_suckit.html)

Halo has heart ;p Panzer Dragoon Orta had heart, if heart=gameplay and funness. Steel Battalion was innovative as hell. If you ask me the only weakness to the system's lineup is the lack of 2d shootemups but thats a dying breed thats hard to find in numbers on any modern console.

I don't think that 2d shootempus is the only weakness to the lineup. The only game that remotely interested me was Blinx, and that was interesting for all of 5 minutes. We have all 3 systems, but 2 ps2 because its usually what people are fighting to play.

Quick, name 1 XBox-exclusive RPG.

Yep, there's at least one other area they're a little weak in. :p

Of course Panzer Dragoon Orta has heart. It's a Sega game. Hard to find one of those that isn't good.

The XBox is a PC hooked up to a television and labeled a console. Call me old-fashioned, but that's just wrong.

Let's countem, one, two, three worthwhile titles. Well, 2.5. Halo really doesn't count. Then you have a whole slew of shitty exclusive titles like Tao Feng and Blinx, and crappy PC ports like Morrowind. I enjoyed Morrowind very much, but playing the game on an Xbox would just piss me off. Then you have the rest of the Xbox's library, crap that's on every other platform.

Hey, Fable will probably kick ass. I bet it would kick way more ass on PC. I see right through the Xbox and it's incredibly boring and crappy lineup. There's nothing to it, they make a PC in a huge-ass case and told everyone it was the best, so they bought it.

Dude, all console's are computers hooked up to tvs. But because the Xbox has a built in hard drive, that makes it more of a computer :/ that makes about as much sense as a dog with laser eyes.
So Sega's games have heart and Bungie's don't? That's pretty harsh words to Bungie.

So why doesn't Halo count as a worthwile title? It's the system's number one killer app. There's a reason Xbox fanboys love to cite the game-its one of the best console FPS's to ever get released. It's a beautiful game, visually, audio...illy, and gameplaywise. PS2 and the Cube would not be able to do that game justice. The graphics are above their abilities, and quite frankly I wouldn't even want to touch that game with either console's controller. And as far as Halo 2 goes, you wouldn't have online play, and that would hurt bad. The fanboys fall back on Halo the same way Nintendo fans fall back on Mario, Metroid, and Zelda, or Sony fans fall back on GTA or final fantasy. It's a quality game, and is shaping up to be a quality series.

Toejam & Earl was Xbox exclusive and sweet as hell >:( And Sega's made some pretty big stinkers too. Ecco for Dreamcast? Sonic Labryinth(sp)? Hell the Sonic Adventure's weren't up to the standard I expected for their flagship character.

The lack of Xbox-exclusive RPG's is a moot point, because they at least have a few rpgs. Sides, after playing(or watching it played extensively) a series of average or crummy rpg's in a row on the playstation, I'm burned out on nearly the entire genre. Sure the PS2 has alot of em-but beyond Wild Arms and Suikoden 3, I don't really care about any of em ;p

Halo doesn't count because it's old as dirt. When the best piece of software for a system thats been out for a year and a half is a launch title, that's sad, and not only is it sad, it's just another FPS. That's right, lump them all together. The genre has been beaten to death, so what did Halo offer that others didn't? Hell if I know, I'm still trying to figure that one out. Yes, I've played the game. Quite a bit. I still can't find it.

Not only that, but it's being released on PC in September, with online play. There goes Xbox's one cash cow until Halo 2 is released... and then that'll be released on PC.

I'm sorry, but when it comes down to it the ONLY reason the Xbox is still around is because it's backed by the biggest money whoring machine in America, and they can drop the money to force their way into the market instead of actually make some good games for the system (ACTION, ADVENTURE, RPG, PUZZLE, SHMUPS, not crap that belongs on the PC like RTS and FPS). Usually that's how a console gets marketshare, with a kickass exclusive title. Halo. Well, Halo is old, you have to keep innovating if you want to stay in the market. The Xbox's marginal success is somewhat confusing, but undoubtably short lived.

I'm really hoping that there are innovative uses (console wise- it's all been done before on PCs) of Xbox live with Halo 2. I'd love to wage small wars and portray covenant, and perhaps share missions with friends. not just frag or be fragged.

---------------------------------

The Channel F is SO much better than the RCA Studio II. Those fools at RCA should stick to what they know- making TVs. Fairchild at least has experience making chips and designing systems. And their games are so much better! Even the built in games kick the RCA Studio II's ass. And Studio II looks like a toy and has crappy controllers- you can't even detach them. Man, my money's on Fairchild all the way. Those games are the best!

---------------------------------------

Well golly I was asking about some ideas for Halo 2. Not how to trash Xbox. Looks like there are more of the latter. It's all as arbitrary as the above argument.

I certainly sympathize with haters, but saying that MS is SO different than Sony or Nintendo is silly. I.E. Man, my Sony walkman broke 3 months after I bought it. I hate Sony. I'll never buy a playstation vs. MS Windows sucks and I'll never support that company if I can avoid it.

I just like games, and I'm not pledging my allegance to any corporation like you guys are. If you choose not to support one or the other, that makes sense. But I certainly wouldn't write off any system as a platform that I couldn't get or wouldn't get or won't get- I just want to play games I'll enjoy. If I could play them on my Toiletbowlstation I would.

Halo offered Vehicular use that was alot more intuitive then in damn near any other console FPS I've played. It's also got a very very nice physics engine that I love better then any of its contemporaries, as well as sweet storyline. When a launch title for a system is still considered one of the best on the console, thats a testament to how good that launch title was.

Halo 2 is Xbox exclusive. No PC version, no mac version, no PS2, Cube, or anything else.

Yet. Even then, it remains to be seen if it's going to be good, or if it's just going to be a prettier version of the first game.

What I want Bungie to include in Halo 2:

1. Ranking System w/ X-Box Live and Clan support rankings

2. Clan Skins

3. Weekly tournaments

4. Leagues (with prizes)

5. Winners of 3 and 4 to receive special vehicles and weapons because they won.

I know I am dreaming on most of those but it would kick ass if they did all those.

Judging from all the thigns I've read and seen about the game it's gonna be damn nice. They made alot of things destructable (in the first one, only covenant vehicles were). They upped the AI big time from what I understand, meaning that marines and aliens both work as a team, and whats more, marines can now actually drive the vehicles, in addition to doing the gun work from em. New multiplayer maps (with the Banshee now in em) that are bigger and thus, better suited to large groups of people playing, which is good, because the game is online. Comboable melee attack, hijacking someone else's vehicle, the capability to hold two small weapons at once, and the conclusion of the Covenant war storyline.

If they can fuck this up, I'd like to know how. So long as they stick to the same basic physics engine they really can't go wrong.
