Wow, what can I say? I only recently found this little gem but god does it hold up well to this day :)

I think the best description of Little Samson is 'Taito's answer to Mega Man'
Although the levels are a little short theyre a good challenge, the controls are completely tight, the variation in the characters is well balanced and the bosses are tough (which I love!)
Graphically is up there as being one of the best uses of the NES's color pallette and the music is great!

Originally I thought this title's value was due to the rarity, however I can now see why there is demand for it!

*Ive not yet finished it, so please hide any spoilers*
Im currently stuck on the level with the green and orange bubble platforms that hide into the background! Ugh, too many spikes and blobs around!

Any more fans then?

This is one of the rare examples of a game that is very hard to get, expensive and quite a great game :D

This is probably my second favorite game on the NES (Bubble Bobble 1/2 being the best). When I began collecting I was very pleased to see that I actually already had this game, I guess I had gotten it at a garage sale a few years before. When I saw how much it went for on ebay I decided to sit down and see if it was worth that price. I didn't get up again until I had beaten the game, it was that good.

I said this in the finds thread as well, but congrats on the purchases, you just picked up a bunch of good NES games!

I too love this game... its graphics really stand out. I have been seeking a manual for this game for the past 7 years, its been driving me nuts.

Yeah, its good stuff.

Another example of bad marketing and a short print run late in the NES's life.

Games like this always seemed to get the short end of the stick on the NES, though I'm guessing you can find 10 copies of Bart VS the Space Mutants laying around in many retro game stores, blech

Love this game and I can't wait to add it to the NES cart collection. It's the last expensive/obscure US cart I'm getting. I been holding off buying one online. but I might have to just so I can get it over with. Not really looking forward to that bid war though. ;)

Hm, I've heard of it, but never really got interested in it until now.

I was going to go buy it, but then I realized that NES+Taito+1992/1993= Expensive.

Fixed.

(Not that Bart vs. The Space Mutants isn't a bad game, it just isn't that abundant.)

Yeah, Top Gun is way more plentiful than Bart.

The point I was trying to make was that Nintendo, Third-party game makers, and stores loved pushing games with Movie/TV characters over great games with unknown characters.

How about I call Back to the Future and we split the difference? :-)

I had a complete copy along time ago, but sold it before it became really sought after. It is a great game. I did happen to write a walkthrough (the first on the net?) all those years ago:

definitely in my top 10 favorite Nes games of all time. Its great when you come across a title like this that is both rare and actually fun to play.

I never played Little Samson (not even through emulation), but I remember that the videogame magazine I used to read made a big fuss about it when the game came out. I was one of the few kids who hadn't migrated to a 16-bit system yet (in fact, those were probably among the very last pages a brazilian magazine dedicated to the NES), so I got very excited - especially because of the cool graphics. Sadly, I never found a copy to rent/buy.

This thread rekindled my interest. I'll see if I can get ahold of it somehow. I doubt it, but hey, you never know...
