View Full Version : Xbox games that are worth more than their PS2 versions?

Just about everyone that collects for PS2 & Xbox knows the PS2 versions are almost always worth more than the Xbox versions. The only exceptions I know of are Sniper Elite and *maybe* Psychonauts and Street Figther Anniversary Collection.

Are there any other Xbox games that are worth more or equal to their PS2 versions?

Would Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 count?

I know The Guy Game is harder to find.

I don't think so. It's been a while since I compared the prices on those two, but I remember the PS2 version always being worth more by $30-$40.

Coast-2-Coast is a good one. I totally forgot about that.

What's the draw to the Xbox version of Anniversary Collection?

What's the draw to the Xbox version of Anniversary Collection?

It didn't get reprinted multiple times like the PS2 version and never really dropped below $20 or so at the retailers that stocked it, so it is harder to find.

Online multiplayer and playable on the 360.

IIRC Silent Hill 2 had options not available in the PS2 release. If not worth more now it could become a sleeper.

they were rolled into the PS2 Greatest Hits release (which goes for more than either the Xbox or original PS2 release, it seems).

What about Burnout 2 (a "Director's Cut" with some stuff that wasn't on the PS2 version) or Beyond Good and Evil?

EDIT: Well, so much for that. Just looked these up on GameStop - the PS2 version of Burnout 2 is $9.99 used, while the Xbox version is $3.99. The PS2 version of Beyond Good and Evil is $5.99, while the Xbox version is a buck less (and I forgot that BG&E isn't backwards compatible with the 360, which doesn't help).

Another one that's close to value of the PS2 version is Fatal Frame 2. Looks like complete Xbox copies go for around $30 while the PS2 version is around there or slightly less.

Xbox version has a bunch of extra features on it too, like bonus costumes and a FPS mode.

I don't think GameStop is a fair judge on pricing. With the PS3 and 360 out now for quite some time, the only ones that are still buying xbox and ps2 are hardcore gamers and collectors like myself. If you were to order ether one online right now, you would most likely get only the disk and in who knows what kind of condition. I know for a fact I have seen several copies of Beyond Good and Evil PS2 versions mint conditon at Gamestop, but I was looking for the xbox version. I ended up paying $12 for it shipped off of ebay just because I couldn't find it anyware.

Wasn't there some Barbie Horse game for Xbox that sold for a decent price. Perhaps because there were so few girls games on the system. Sims2 for the same reason? Been some time since I looked so it might have changed.

I would imagine the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Xbox is more valuable than the PS2 version. It has all the features of the Gamecube and Xbox version, and it is a backwards compatible title (I imagine those are worth more than titles that can't play on the 360)

F1 2001 is another one that used to be worth quite a bit for some reason. Prices are down to about $15-$20 a copy now (was $40 for a long time), but that's still a lot more than the PS2 copies sell for.

I was going to add The Dukes of Hazzard: Return of The General Lee. But it looks like the PS2 version holds slightly more weight.

Well, it also doesn't help that GameStop is going to stop carrying Xbox within the next month, so their Xbox prices have been lowed in an attempt to get the product off their shelves or bins...or whatever...

Japanese XBOX version of Fatal Frame 2 is hella expensive -- usually $150+. Weird, eh?

I just saw a used copy of Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for Xbox priced at $29.99 at a local used game store the other day. I guess I have my answer as to why it was so expensive. I remember both versions being clearanced at TRU years ago for $9.99. I guess I should've bought the whole stock of Xbox versions.

Found it.

Barbie Horse Adventures still looks like it gets a premium on the Xbox.

He actually has a point. Up until the past few months, ESPN NBA 2Night 2002 on Xbox was a $4 trade in at a bunch of different places (FYE, Gamestop, etc.). Not exactly common for a sports game that is more than a year old. During this same period of time, the PS2 version of the same game would get you maybe 10-20 cents. Just a hunch but I'd say it was a low print run by Konami, though probably not nearly as low as Sega's NCAA College Basketball 2003 on Gamecube.

Here are a couple of my own.

-Sonic Heroes
-Jaws Unleashed

When I was trying to find both of them either new/used for the Xbox and PS2, I found the Xbox versions to be more expensive. It was a difference of about $5-8 for each, depending on where I was looking.

Granted that was maybe a year ago but I would think that the Xbox versions still sell for more.

Well it does seem to be rare or atleast no one bothers to try and sell it because I found only 1 completed auction with a bidder. However, it only sold for 99 cents.

In current auctions I did notice a couple of guys trying to get $20-$25 for it but no takers.

edit
--------

Here is another one that is current. It is a $1 BIN if you want it but it is missing the instructions.

I know. I'm the buyer. I've been searching for this for months. I'm not paying $20 for a stinking sports title. I only buy complete games. Has to have instructions, has to be in the case, and has to say something convincing about the condition of the disk.

I went to like 15 Gamestops looking for that for Sniderman as part of my SS present to him 2 years ago. I would have paid 20+ for it. I could never find it. All the 1337 collectors must have snagged the copies for some reason....
