I thought this might throw up a few interesting answers:
What is your favorite Street Fighter Game?

For me its Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the GBA, I know its quite limited but for the system its amazingly beautiful, it loads quickly and if I'm honest I do prefer the limited number of buttons as a hang-up from my 8/16 bit days!

Wasn't this same thread recently posted?

Anyways. My favorite is Street Fighter Alpha 3 for either PSX or PSP.

I'm surprised you would list a GBA port as your favorite version. Sure, they might've done a great job, but you still can't even play it against other people without considerable hassle! That's like if I said SF2 for the GB, because they did a great job working with what they had... hell, at least that game lets you play Vs. on the Super Gameboy!

Anyway, SF2 Turbo for the SNES or SFA3 for the PSX, depending on my mood. Turbo is good when I want to go 'less complicated', and to me, Alpha 3 is the definitive Street Fighter cast of characters.

I like both SFII: Turbo Hyper Fighting for Arcade and Super Street Fighter II: Turbo for Arcade. The first one for the movements of characters, it's just great to pull off moves. They adjusted them in the other game, so that's why I list it second.

SF 2 : Turbo for SNES

Probably one of the top 5 games for me in terms of time spent playing it with friends back in the day. LOVED it.

Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 2 Turbo for Super NES.

Don't really care that later ports might have gotten these two games closer to arcade perfect.

After all, you said "Favorite" Street Fighter game and not the "Best."

Right now 3rd strike is my favorite, but all I want to do is play SF4 and I try to go to the arcade to play it as much as possible.

3rd Strike. Nothing can top that game.

True but it doesn't have any Dhalsim in it, so for me it's a tie between Super 2 Turbo and HD Remix.

Oooh ... so many great SF games, pretty much impossible for me to just pick one.

Out of the entire gamut of Street Fighter II games I think that my favorite would have to be the standard (yes unbalanced) Street Fighter II : Champion Edition ... actually I'd cast my vote for just plain Street Fighter II if it wasn't missing the selectable boss characters.

I prefer the slow, floaty unbalanced Street Fighter II games ... the faster they made the game and the more they "balanced" (weakened) the characters the less fun I had with it competitively.

Alpha 3 is a downright perfect fighting game that is lean enough in it's base code that it can run beautifully on anything from a PS1 to a GBA.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for the EX series (2 was probably the best of the bunch there)

And for my all time favorite Street Fighter game, like, if somebody put a gun to my head:

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike I enjoy ALL of the Street Fighter III games, but 3rd Strike has the most bad-ass Chun Li in the history of Street Fighter.

Hyper Street Fighter II and 3rd Strike are my favorites for competition, but Street Fighter II' Champion Edition is my all time favorite.
SFIICE is the last SF game that I spent any time with in the arcades.
SFIITurbo for SNES gets an honorable mention for being the best console SF game of it's generation. SSFII and SFA2 were also good, but SFIITurbo is just magic.

Indeed. HD Remix for me.

Third Strike is a very close second, though. That game is beautiful.

Fighting Street on the TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM, otherwise known as Street Fighter 1. It's about the only Street Fighter game I put any time into, since I don't have much interest in the genre. And I only played the Turbo game because I didn't have many others at the time.

Closely followed by any version of Alpha 2.

Just pulled out SFA3 from my collection yesterday and really enjoyed this one. It is one of my favorites, espically wtih either an DC six button fighting pad or DC joystick. Good times

Sometimes I forget how great the SFA series is.

Is the SFA anthology on the PS2 any good?

For some reason I always preferred Super Street Fighter II to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Alpha 2 (or better yet, Alpha 2 Gold) over Alpha 3.

It's awesome, expecially if you play with friends.
It has all of the Alpha arcade games, Pocket Fighter, and Hyper Street Fighter Alpha, which is one of the best unlockable features ever.
The only thing it lacks are the extra characters from the GBA and PSP ports of SFA3, and the wretched SFA anime films.
The gameplay is spot on and there are more hidden features and options than I can count.
If you're a fan of the SFA series, don't pass it up.

Honestly, I would have to say Super Street Fighter II Turbo hands down. With Street Fighter Alpha 3 coming in a close second.

One almost has to really put this in subcategories... I mean Hyper SF2 is competitive geeky nuancey goodness for the SF2 series... but then Alpha 2 was so great... and SF3:TS is amazing... It's hard to choose.

SF3:TS then...
Hyper Street Fighter 2
then Alpha 2.

Count me in the 'not actually liking Alpha 3' group, at least over 2. 2 was where it was at.

I've got the xbox version. I quite like it. I only use it to play Hyper Street Fighter II.

I've got SFIII for xbox and DC. They seem to be identical, but I'm not 100% about this.

Dc I heard is not perfect but I heard the Sf anniversary edition is a more arcade perfect version.

They're based on two different versions of the arcade game.

The Dreamcast version is actually based on the newer and less common version that nobody seems to like. I'm not sure what all is different, but I know there are some infinites that won't work on DC.

I believe the DC version has smaller sprites and scaling issues. Double Impact looked crisper on DC than 3rd Strike because of this.

Oddly, the background music is handled differently in just about every version of 3rd Strike.
The non-CDROM arcade version changes the BGM as soon as the round begins, the DC version changes it when the screen fades in before the start of the round, and the anniversary collection just plays the 3 BGMs like a playlist, if I'm not mistaken.

My favorites are

Import Street Fighter Collection for Saturn with Super Street fighter II X Grand Master Challenge. Way better than the US version.I have the DC version for matching service. Never played it though.

I also like Street Fighter Zero 3 import for the Saturn.

The only reason I own a 3DO is Street Fighter. That version was kick ass at the time and is still pretty good now.

I didn't even think of it and it's one of my favorite NES games. I'm more of a platformer fan than a fighting fan anyways so it'd definitely get my vote.

I change my vote.

Street Fighter 2010. Then Street Fighter Alpha 3.
