I saw this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270332335890) for a longbox version of Sega Rally Championship Netlink for the Saturn. I didn't know this existed; anybody else know anything about this? That seller has sold a bunch of uncommon stuff in the past (Daytona Netlink, Virtua Fighter Remix longbox, etc.), so I'm guessing he knows what he's talking about. I'd just never heard of it.
If it really does exist, I'm guessing that it was a mail-in only game like Daytona Netlink, except that all its parts can be found in other forms: it would have the same color manual and back art as regular SRC and the black-and-white Netlink manual and Netlink disc that came in the Netlink Game Pack.
Can anybody shed any light on this?

There is no picture in the Ebay auction.
I'm guessing it's the Netlink game pack that came with Sega Rally (NetLink Edition) and Virtual On (NetLink Edition). Both games were in standard CD jewel cases and bundled in a longbox.
As far as I know it's the only way it was sold. Here (http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-game,,81608,,Netlink-Game-Pack-USA.html)is a link to a picture of it.

Yup, that's what I've got in my Netlink Game Pack too, but I don't think that's what he was selling. I just got this reply to a question I asked him: "I got this off ebay years ago, just like you never seen ...........it has a black and white book and one color manual and the art work looks the same"
It sounds to me like he really has a long plastic case with the SRC color manual and black-and-white Netlink manual -- I'm just curious if it was ever sold like that or if the person he bought it from on eBay slapped things together from the original release and the Netlink Game Pack...

Have him check the UPC on the back. If it matches the regular Sega Rally, then it was just slapped together. I don't remember a longbox release, so I'm guessing that's what it is.

I wouldnt be suprised if someone photoshoped a new cover, or some other high-jinks, I have seen too many Ebay sellers selling fake rare items.

On the other hand, Daytona Netlink has the exact same UPC as regular Daytona USA CCE, even though those were legitimately released separately...
