Be there or be square. Lets get some tournament ideas started up! You guys know the drill by now with these ol' threads.

SPECIAL OFFER FROM DAVE: I'm looking to clean some stuff out of my collection, anyone who is willing to donate their time to helping me clean up (This does involve someone taking a trip to the middle of the woods, or as Nick would say, the Ewok Village) and figure out what to get rid of will have first dibs on the stuff and will be treated to some sort of food-type-stuff.

I also would like to say that this is a good opportunity for those who would normally attend NAVA, which has been postponed from January, to come down to SJC and get your dose of games whether it's trading them, playing them, or politely discussing your opinion with your peers, grab your friends and make the trip!

Also bring your asses and get them ready to be kicked, because I might be holding the first Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike (PS2) tournament we've ever had. I'm not sure of a prize yet, but it will probably be a double elimination tournament and if you prefer a specific controller to use, please bring it. Again, I'm not 100% sure that I'm going to conduct this tournament but it's probably going to happen because we play the game so goddamn much anyway we might as well find out who is the best! I'll think about it some more and when I determine more specific rules/details I'll post them.

Due to events beyond my control, I was not able to attend Dec NAVA or Jan SJC....so in a one week span that I thought I would get to go to 2 gaming events, I got to zero. So you better believe I'll be there ready to....uhh...ready to....well, ready to stand around a lot I suppose.

I'm going to have a box of mega cheap games there....about 30-40 titles $2 each. No sports stuff, mostly complete PS2, GC, and PS1 games.

Actually the Hallowiin one was the fastest. I had most of it done in like an hour i just needed to add the extra text. this took a bit because I was looking for the right Dudley picture to capture the mood. Plus you fucking challenge me to make a lyer with Dudley so it got me motivated. LOL

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Tournament Rules
� Tournament will be a Double-Elimination style tournament.
� Each match-up will be determined by the winner winning 2 out of 3 rounds.
� The first round of match-ups will be randomly drawn and then brackets will be formed after the first set of match-ups are made.
� If you prefer a specific controller/fighting stick to use and you have that specific controller, BRING IT! Also, before each round each player has the opportunity to customize his button settings. If there is a difference over a certain controller to be used, then a quick 2 out of 3 game of Rock-Paper-Scissors will be played to determined who gets to use that controller.
� You must use the same character throughout the whole tournament, once you pick your character for the first time, I will write that character down and you must continue to use that character for the rest of the tournament.
� There will be no bitching about any of these rules. If you lose because you didn�t get the controller you like, tough shit. If you lose because someone was �cheap�, tough shit. If you lose because you think Akuma shouldn�t be a playable character because he�s got 3 different supers to be used at anytime, he�s fast as hell, has 1000 moves, and he�s a boss character, tough shit.

Those are the rules for the tournament, so decide whom you want to use, practice up and get ready for some ass-beatings. If you have any questions about the rules or think some should be added, post them and I'll think about it. :fist:

Ok, we've got about a week to go, is anyone excited! I am and I was curious if anyone knew who they were going to use for the Street Fighter Tournament. I know Allec is going to use Dudley and John Hesington is most likely going to use Ryu, but I am not sure yet but my top contenders are Dudley and Alex, how about everyone else?

I'm pumped. My crazy ass has been practicing on the hardest difficulty on SF3 just to make sure i bring my A game.

I'm looking for Resident Evil (remake), Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 all on Gamecube and I'll either trade for them (but my tradebox kinda sucks right now) or pay cash for them, but if anyone has those games, bring 'em!

thanks to everyone who came by, spectators and participants of the tourney alike.

i don't think daigo has anything to worry about, but justin wong sure does!LOL

quite a show was put on by quite a few folks...who knew GAC had enough strongsauce to take the WINNER of the 1st and only MOTW NLVGames tourney to the limit?!

2 of the 3 rounds were damn near double KOs. *lifts glass and toasts to GAC*

i regret not making/staying for the finals, but only a little. not only did i get to play my favorite game of all (put JDP3 to bed), y'all might start crying foul if i won the tourney everytime it centers around a 10+yr old 2D beat off.

such a good time, thx again to NLV allstaff and thank you for playing.

@ GR; BRAVO m'man. that was some serious tourney-ment caliber fun.

Don't try to invalidate my reign...as of today, I am the 1st, the ONLY, and the *possibly* defending Gorou champ.

I may retire undefeated...however, then we would never know would we?

Instead of putting the cart before the horse and rushing to oust the King of Garou, my idea is as stated earlier:

2 man tourney, 1 rep= 3rd strike champ, 1 rep = G champ, VS.each other to unify the title.

If after the dust settles from that, we wanna go and crown 'intercontental' champs in respective 3rd S and MOTW, then so be it.

Why in such a hurry to bump me off?! Y'all have had 2+ yrs to practice/ try my skills.

Word to the wise: bring a lunch, and a friend...'cause you'll need BOTH.

details: MOTW champ picks a game. best of 5 series w/ said game.

3s champ picks a game. criteria for win TBD by 3s champ.

if either champ wins both games, it is a done deal, winner is the new UNDISPUTED 2D BEAT OFF CHAMPEAN.

*the catch*

neither champ can pick MOTW or 3s for their games...we already determined the best of the best at those 2 games.

however, lets say the series goes 1 up. the tiebreaking game will be drawn @ random by an objective 3rd party from a list of 2D fighters that gets printed out, cut up, and thrown in a hat.

winner of the tiebreaker, takes all.

this is for the title belt, peeps. see www.wildcatbelts.com for an idea of what i'm getting at.

like i said earlier...AFTER the inaugeral Next Level Gaming League 2DBOC is crowned, then i'll start entertaining ideas of if i want to put my MOTW title on the line or not.

I'll be honest here and admit I didn't really read your posts regarding the tournaments. I'm going to suggest a much simpler way to do things:

When someone has the "title" for a specific game, you are allowed to keep it without being challenged for 12 months. Towards the end, the title holder needs to arrange for another tournament/championship that they will participate in if they want to keep the title. Otherwise, after 12 months of going unchallenged, the title is stripped away. The said tournament/championship needs to be agreed upon with some of the participants from the past tournament/championship. (to prevent someone from challenging me in a 1v1 battle to guarantee they keep the title)

@ VM0: I like your suggestions. I would however, like to implement them AFTER the U2DBOC champ is crowned...I don't feel like I should win MOTW all over again, just to challenge the current 3s champ.

My vision for Ultimate 2D BeatOff Champion is an annual event where whomever is the current SNK champ can go against the current CAPCOM champ in a struggle for if not the ages, then at least the season.

Right now, we have a 3s and a MOTW champ, but if this catches on and goes viral, we can expand it to other games from each Co...or even expand it to other dev houses.

(Read: ARCSys champ vs. Capcom champ vs. SNK champ vs. TypeMoon/ fill in the blank champ.)

This can be as rad or as sad as we want it to be...I just know it is begging to be done.

We have a LOT of folks in our cypher that are hella good @ fighters and even better @ talking smack.

What better ultimate bragging right than a champion belt?

Hey it usually takes me 1-2 nights to actually make it. I'm waiting until the details are clear with this damn tourney so i get a better idea how to do the poster.

Honestly I am not excited about a fighter tourney immediately after another one. I think we need to vary to tournaments or else its going to be pretty stagnant.

Agreed. And I am not excited about any fighter tournaments anyway, because I am not a big fan of fighters. Unless it is "Way of the Warrior".

i'm not saying dont do one. i just think with all the ideas we can have for tourneys a fighting one immediately after a fighting one isnt the best idea. atleast do it on april or something
