I have come across this blue disc of Final Fantasy VII ... i can say that the disc is original because the art on the disc is IDENTICAL to any FF7 i know; I collect FF7s and i have over 40 of the black label version.

According to this site, (http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_cd_info.shtml) it appears you may have a Hong Kong silver cd. (a bootleg.) I hope I'm wrong, though.

Those are silver, this is very much like Blu Ray's.

Final Fantasy 7 has a huge sentimental value for me .... and i have been lucky to find those games very cheap.

Very good to know that, that game is obviously original right ?
I want to sell this game but i have to figure out its origin. I purchased this game used...

And they hold their value better than the US dollar :D
Looks like a HK bootleg to me as well.

Does anyone have a photo of a Hong Kong Silver ???
I have never seen a bootleg of this color and with such quality on the disc cover. I have never seen one in Mexico either ...
The quality of the disc print is the same as any regular black FF7 disc and usually bootlegs are easy to spot in text detail or particular marks.
I forgot to say :
The game works on a regular NTSC PS1, PS2 or PS3
I wish I had over 40 copies of FFVII :)

I don't have a boot to compare to, but does your disc have the same numbers around the center spindle area as a regular copy? I think it is a PSRM number or somesuch. I don't have a real copy in front of me either, so not sure if FFVII had these on them since not all discs do (e.g. Oddworld, which I do have in front of me). Something to check anyway.

I was wondering the same thing. Then I realized that, if I could, I'd have 40 copies of Lunar, so I can't really fault him for it :)

This is the small number pressed on the data side of the disc, near the center : IFPI 5065.
I checked several FF7 and they all had the IFPI and the numbers are different on every copy i checked, so i assume this number is as any other.
I took a picture of a GH and a regular one

Perhaps it is a rerelease? Were GH games labeled some way or were the discs the exact same?

Are all three discs of that game blue, or just that Disc 1?

Maybe it's discoloration? It could have been left out in the sun or in an extremely heated area for a long period of time.

And still, that lady from that CS Monitor says that kids don't collect anymore (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126923). :p
As for the qquestion: it might actually be a bootleg. Here in Brazil, I've seen totally faithful labels on counterfeit cds.

Why do you have over 40 FF7's? That's insane!!! Are you obessessed with the game?
I guess it's like I have over 20 sealed Double Dragon 1's for the SMS. I'm obessessed with Double Dragon. :p

Do that bootlegs work in PS consoles without a mod.chip ?, because this cd does work on any :D
About the question of the FF collection : Yes, i have serious issues...

Hmmmm....good point. No, they don't. Guess I'm so used to modded PSXs that I forget about this issue...

No they don't work.
As long as the back isn't some obvious silver, it's very unlikely to be a bootleg.

I suppose it could be a misprint. I know they used blue discs for PS2 CD based games but I've never seen it on PS1. Then again there have been stranger things, like every single copy of Strider 2 having disc 1 and disc 2 mislabeled. Personally I've had a customer come back after buying Bioshock to show me a completely blank disc with no label at all, but he said the game played fine so he didn't mind.

i'm thinking maybe a factory fault? maybe they were running low on the black ink for the plastic? it isnt the same blue as the ps2 discs, theyre much darker and more vibrant blue.
i have some bootlegs, theyre all fairly obviously bootlegged and dont work in an unmodded console. i also think if it was a variation then all the discs would be like that, not just disc 1

Maybe a press-release/review copy. I'm not a PSX expert by any means, but if this runs natively then it was at least a sony approved disc. But why only disc 1?
My thoughts were review copy/demo/internal copy? It seems odd that's for sure.

I was thinking the same ...
I was gonna get rid of it, but i will keep it :D

The only blue disc I've ever seen for PlayStation was one of the Gameshark/Action Replay kind of discs. It wasn't mine so I can't check again, but for an official game to be like that is pretty unique it seems.

Was this game bought used? If so, there is a chance that all 3 discs where blue, and some where allong the line, the discs got mixed up and you only ended up with 1 blue disc. You should go back and conntact the seller who sold this, perhaps he has the other 2 blues.

I have had a few of the Blue backed games come in also on FF tactics and a few other games. I have never thought they were fake.

I know exactly what you are talking about. However, when I went to check that disc it magically turned black at the bottom. But I know I have a blue bottom PS1 disc somewhere. I'll have to look for it later.

Guys, guys, guys...
*phew*
How did I miss this thread...
It's a 100% legit copy of the game. All that happened is the disc's coloring didn't settle correctly. I have 3 different PSone games that have that blue-ish aspect rather than black.
You can confirm it's a legit disc by the hidden PSRM #info that is visible on the underside of the disc. If you look at the bottom disc image, and start from his index finger in towards the center, you'll see the backwards -0064?? and the barcode across from it, on the inner rim. These are Printer Markers when the discs are made. All PSX games have this; you just can't normally see it unless it has a "clear" artwork on the top, since the disc bottom is usually solid black. The dye was probably running low in the presser.
All is fine with the world. May you carry on with #41.

But they wern't intended that way, those are just factory goofs. The boy has enough variants thanks to me already. We don't need to start the find the 'unsettled' discs PlayStation collection.

Don't all PS1 discs have a slight bluish/purplish tint to them if you look at them from the right angle under a bright light?
Probably just a case of the black dye not being a true black, though.

The blue-ish color isnt all that rare. I have seen several of them. I would say around 1-200ish.
