I recently picked up Facebreaker for the 360 when it was on sale for $10 at Best Buy a few weeks back, and I have to say that based on everything I'd heard and read about the game, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I played it. Most of the online postings I'd read suggested that the game was terrible, and while I don't agree with that statement, I think it's overly complicated for a sports game.
It is perhaps the toughest boxing game I've ever played, not only because the opponents' attacks which include kicks and throws in addition to punches are lightning-fast but also because it's important to block and parry the whole time you're trying to punch.
In other words, the controls completely mar the experience of the rest of the game. I swear, my hand started to hurt like hell and I had to pause several times during all the matches I've played over the past few days just to give it a rest.
With that said, I'm addicted to this game and I can't stop playing it on easy mode. The medium and expert modes are insanely difficult, so playing those modes becomes an exercise in trying to stay alive through all of the rounds rather than winning.
Facebreaker isn't a Ready 2 Rumble clone and it isn't an arcade version of Knockout Kings or Fight Night. With the parry system, it reminds me a lot of a fighting game - more Soul Calibur than Street Fighter, though.
Has anyone else spent time with this game?
