Nope. I believe it was released in Europe, but not here. Only the PS2 version made it out over here.

I do not for sure but i have never seen a US version ... i wanted that game because it had a port of CADASH.

I bought the PAL version and works without problems and / or modding.

They should have released Bubble Symphony on the PS2 version. I mean the game itself was released on PSX in PAL and NTSC J territories. So why? Makes me sad :(. Cadash, another good game, we missed on the PS2 version.

The PS2 version has more shmups though.

Puzzle Bobble is the same, but ruined by some bs Americanization. Bub and Bob are not shooting stuff and the backgrounds are random pieces of art.

Other than that. It's still a great collection. Not as good as the original Taito Legends. But definitely a great collection.

We did not receive the Xbox version, but as others have pointed out, the European version works without any modification to your Xbox and even displays in proper NTSC format.

4 games exclusive to PS2: Balloon Bomber, Ray Storm, G Darius, Syvalion
4 games exclusive to Xbox and PC: Bubble Symphony, Cadash, Rayforce, Pop 'n Pop

Xbox Taito legends 2 don't have one of best shooters of all time, g-darius. You're missing so much with xbox version and still cost a bunch of money due your rarity and pal release only

It's odd that Taito Legends 2 EU Xbox is region-free. I also have heard that before... it makes me ask, what other Xbox games are region-free? Is there somewhere that has the information?

One has RayForce, the other G-Darius... each has an exclusive, great shmup.

Taito Legends 2 is not super rare. It regularly shows up on Ebay in the UK and other European sites and you'll probably pay about $20 plus shipping for a nice complete copy. Taito Legends 2 for the PS2 has been selling for under $10 at Walmart and Toys R Us for a while now, so it makes sense to just own both versions.

How come they don't include their great NES games on these collections like Little Samson, Panic Restaurant, and Kickmaster? I mean the licensed propertys like the Flintstones and the Jetsons I understand, but these were original games.

Because they're NES games, and that probably involves trying to get Nintendo to give them permission to port the games to the XBox. :P

Nintendo has no rights to them at all. Just because they're a NES game doesn't mean they have any ownership or control over them. Even if Nintendo were a publisher for any of those titles back in the day, those publisher agreements are surely long since expired.

I could be wrong, but didn't Nintendo -stop- some companies from releasing NES games on other consoles?

There are some NES games on some of those Capcom collections so they made it work there. Either way I just wanna play some Little Samson without having to pay like $70 for an original lol.

Mega Man Ann - proof positive that NES ports on non-Nintendo systems is possible.

Might have to pull down a EUR copy for Xbox. Didn't know it was region agnostic. :) Nice!

Kind of.

Nintendo "stopped" the companies from re-releasing NES titles (the Capcom/Bionic Commando fiasco) by threatening to deny future releases on their systems. They have no legal right to stop companies from re-releasing titles, but they still have ways to stop the process.

Are you talking about them refusing to put Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console? Doesn't apply in my opinion, and didn't work either since the 3d remake still came out for XBLA and PSN. They simply didn't want to put something on the VC that was going to basically serve as a advertisement, they felt, for a remake on competitor's consoles. I don't think it went any deeper than that or included threats of other Capcom properties being refused on the Wii.

I can't read Japanese, but I doubt that list included region free European games, and I doubt games listed like Project Gotham Racing 2 and Halo 2 were region free, though correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought that list was bullshit. Then I started to grab some games at random and stick them in a Japanese Xbox. Damned if every one I tried didn’t boot. Tried some from this list too…
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=413898
Damned if they didn’t work in it also. I knew Microsoft was pampering the Japanese with all those Limited Edition Xbox’s, but I had no idea they were practically region free too!
I grabbed a few Japanese titles I had…Tiny Copter, Psyvariar 2, Metal Wolf Chaos, Exa Skeleton, Shikigami no Shiro: Evolution Aka and Ran, Drihoo and Double Steal and tried them in my NTSC Xbox. Not one booted! LOL Figures!
Oh well, when Play Asia was blowing out those Japanese Halo 2 Limited Edition Xbox’s for $100 I snatched one for the pitifully few NTSC-J Xbox games I had. Little did I realize that it would also become a viable backup for my North American Xbox.

That really surprises me, I'm proven wrong yet again. :)
