Mmmmmm ... I'm a BIG fan of Ol' Duke Togo, but that doesn't look very exciting to me.

Top Secret Episode and Mafat Conspiracy will have to do for now.

Oh wow, I can't wait. I've been waiting soooooo long for a new Golgo 13 game. My heart was broken after hearing that the N64 version was canned. I play the arcade game on MAME a lot, but I had no idea a DS game was being made.

It looks very text-heavy though, which scares me. I might have to start playing My Japanese Coach to get ready for it.

I have to play the NES games again, it's been a long time since I've played them(I think I only have the first one).

Is that DS game even being released in North America?

Dont see a domestic release in the future for it. Something tells me we wont be missing out. Looked like it could be interesting but with the lack of much action gameplay, could also prove to be another game we will miss out without realy missing.

Man, I loved the original back in the day. It was one of the first titles to mix several genre's. It was part platformer/SHMUP/1st person shooter/dungeon crawler...just brilliant considering it came out on the NES. I think I still have my hand drawn maps of the "dungeons" somewhere in storage. Also, the only time I've ever called the Nintendo "Game Councilors" was because of the final boss. They knew exactly what to do (believe it or not). Alright...I'll turn the nostaligia off now.

This new DS title looks kind of boring.

I doubt we'll ever see it. It's be nice, but something tells me that there's not much action or platforming like the originals.

The first game I used to regard as one of the NES's hardest, but once I got to Greece it was really smooth sailing. The game pissed me off for forever until then, but once I figured out how to get to Greece, I beat it in a day or two. Great game! I liked Mafat, but not as much.

I only have this to say:

... Lols! I hear Togo and Ryu Hayabusa still play poker on Tuesday nights.

And I just posted about the Golgo 13 games in the spiritual sequels thread. Didn't see this thread until now actually.

Anyways. Game doesn't look too great I'd say. I'm not too fond of touchscreen gimmicks unless they push the system with some really good gameplay or actually good originality.

I could never get into Golgo 13 myself.

THe NES games rock, this looks different, but cool. I wont hold my breath for it to come to the states.

Looks kind of boring. It's a bummer because my opinion of the Golgo 12 games is similar to heybtbm's. When I was a kid I would dream of the kind of game I would create, and Top Secret Episode was the archetype for it. The genre-meshing just worked beautifully. It's similar to how some of the more modern GTA games have so many gaming styles wrapped into one engine.

Just imagine the Duke Togo awesomeness that would be possible on the PS3 or 360. And with an M rating, they could show boobies when Duke gets ass. Rad.

Well this is finally out (or at least a rom dump is). Only played it for about 15 minutes because it's entirely in Japanese with no English option, so I had no idea what was going on. From what I can tell, it looks like a hacker pokes around in the wrong network and gets killed soon after. I saw Duke in one scene but I don't know if he had anything to do with it.

So far, it just seems to be a digital comic like the Golgo 13 PS1 titles because I haven't seen any action yet. Just a bunch of text.

Does anyone ever release patches for JP DS games? Looks like that's my only hope for being able to 'play' this.

I remember when that game came out for the NES and I was at a pawnshop, this guy came in to sell it and the guy behind the counter said "you can Golgo out of my store". Never tried it but I heard it was bad on the Nes.

^^^

Top Secret Episode was a great game (don't know much about Mafat...didn't play it much). Had the deepest story of NES game I've ever played and the FPS and maze parts were were done well. Great music too.

The weakest part of the game was the combat which felt kinda sloppy at first but you used to it after a while.
