The Japanese PS2 Karaoke Revolution Mic doesn't work with the North American Karaoke Revolution Encore (in case anyone's interested)

And vice-versa. When I first got my modded PS2, I downloaded a bunch of the Japanese KR games only to find out none of them worked with my mics. Tried a SOCOM headset too but that didn't work either.
Anyone know why the JP KR mics are so different? Doesn't it use the controller port instead of USB?

They're both USB.
The Konami Japanese mic seems to just be a typical USB device, it worked as soon as I plugged it into my PC.
I'm sure it's just an arbitrary choice to make sure the Konami mics sell.
Fortunately I have a US one sitting in a box somewhere in storage so I'm not too disappointed.
