Hey all I am still new to LIVE (Loving it!), so I would like to know how do the stars go up on your gamertag and whats it for. Is it like some sort of user review kind of thing?

It's your "rep." The idea is that if you get positive feedback from players in an online game, it goes up, the opposite, it goes down.

In practice, the statistics tell me that I have 24% positive/preferred or "did not leave a review" and 76% of the people avoided me. This is complete bullshit, because I highly doubt seven thousand out of ~10,000+ folks I've played with did review me.

And, also, despite my horrid positive to negative ratio, I have 5 stars. Basically, the rep system was a failed idea by Microsoft, since they didn't implement it correctly and the community would never be assed to leave feedback for every player anyway.

Hmm weird. So they manually have to be like oh this guy is cool let me rate him 'click'? Kinda crappy.

Thats how it works. Also be prepard to take some negatives just for being a better player than some folks.

Wow hahaha. So far in Burnout Paradise I've met some cool cats, I'm guessing someone did positive feedback on me because the fourth star is somewhat starting to build up.

Nobody has ever been able to tell me for sure, but i believe you can get the stars by playing with people as long as they don't rank you negative.

As for the percentages, i was under the impression that negatives went away after a certain ammount of time, but i guess not. I got negged by an entire clan because i beat them 1 on 5 in halo 3 by camping with a shotgun. That was over a year ago and still hasn't fallen off my profile. I'm 87% negative with 5 stars.

Why is it that whenever I leave a negative review against a player with less than 5 stars, their Rep rating goes UP? I'll be playing against someone with a 3-Star rep but after I leave them a negative review, their rating will always go up to 4 1/2-5 stars?

Doesn't make any sense to me. Now if I'm ever playing against someone with less than a 5-star rating who deserves a negative review, I don't even leave one because I know it'll raise their rep score.

The statistics are from people who've left feedback, not the total amount of people you've played with.

It makes sense too. People are more likely to give negative feedback than positive. Chances are you're only going to go through the trouble of rating people you had a bad experience with.

^^ True. I guess it's not really important, unless your trying to not get banned from LIVE or something. Man Shamemaker...35k achievement points, CRAP!

What about WORLD RANK in the gamercard.net site? it shows that to the right of your achievement points.
