I'm pretty sure there's a mushroom growing on one of those. Mario would be proud, and the games will be much more fun to play if you lick them first and wait 45 minutes.

This! I will paypal you $5.00 if you'll lick Captain Comic with pics/video posted here as proof.
I was thinking about this on my drive home last night. I'll give an extra $5.00 if you'll tongue the cart connectors.

You do know that if he never posts again, you'll know you killed him. Do you really want that on your conscious? I don't think so. The dreams of licking nasty games will haunt you the rest of your life.

You would be right if you knew how the matter actually entered the carts. If these were water damage/flood carts matter could have been deposited from the water. In some cases high levels of dust, or improper storage can cause mold growth, due to contamination from other sources, in plastics, metals, etc. We are not debating the existence of the mold, as Dark Slime (yes the name is kind of ironic) has posted it is there.
If you're talking about the dishwasher that is on the fritz it could provide an excellent habit for mold spores and cross contamination (loose food particles + a warm closed environment= Ideal environment). Ultimately, advising someone to place in their dishwasher an item with an "unknown mold", may cause serious problems to someone with severe allergies or may pose a potential long term affect to someone, is extremely foolish if you are not familiar with all aspects of the case and their outcomes. It is better to play it safe and not risk health over $12's worth of NES carts.
This is what is wrong with Amerika! Everyone over reacts to the smallest things. WHO THE FUCK CARES? Are we really turning into a nation of pussies who really need to get worked up about spores in the dishwasher? Go outside, get some sunshine, move away from the keyboard and relax! I can think of about 1000 issues in my community, or my state, or the US that needs more attention that spores in the DW!

They honestly look as if they had been through a flood. I have been flooded three times in the past ten years, and pretty much everything that resided on my porch looked like that Captain Comic cart. These were probably sitting in a box in someone's basement that suffered a flood. BUT, >I< always threw away items that got hit.
I would personally pee all over them and send them back to the seller. What a rotten bastard, and you seem to be taking it a little too lightly in my personal opinion.

Sorry, I'm not gonna lick it.
Would you pay for pictures of one of my dumb ass friends licking it? :D
I really am tempted to pee on them and send them to the seller, but he probably won't even notice it, his house smells so badly like cigarettes (the cardboard box they came in smelled like that)
Is there anything I can do on ebay to get my money back even though he listed them in as is condition with no pics, or am I screwed on that?

you can try for your money back, and almost certainly win, since they are a health hazzard and dont work. no pics doesnt excuse a broken product.
ill throw another 3 bucks in. total at 20. i dont care who particularly licks those.... you or your friend, hilarity will ensue

Nice, you truly believe they're a health hazard, yet you'll pay someone a measly 3 bucks to lick it? That's pretty douchebaggy.

I personally don't think anyone would die, I just think it's gross. That being said, it's not my place to second guess someone if they're willing to lick those (or anything else) for 5, 10 or 20 dollars. I don't really see why you would care if he licks them or not, and how much he'd be willing to do it for.

I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about Poofta. I don't particularly care, like I said many times in this thread, I think it's harmless. Shit, for a couple hundred dollars, I'd lick it. But I was just pointing out the douchebaggery of someone who really believes that it's deadly and then offering 3 bucks to lick it. Wouldn't you be insulted if I offered you a dollar to swallow arsenic?

And he spelled it as nitendo not nentendo sorry. I've found that searched misspellings of nintendo has gotten me good stuff for cheap, but unfortunately not this time.

Technically he didn't lie, but he wasn't all honest either. Did he leave your friend any feedback yet? If you give him a negative could he give your friend a negative?
A neutral might be the best thing to do, just describe the situation honestly so other people would avoid him. Something like;
"All games with mold and rust from obvious flood damage. All broken and garbage."
They might not be from a flood, but that would get the point across to potential customers.

I thought "as-is" meant as-is, not "Brand Spanking new, sealed in box with a certificate stating that it has never been exposed to light or oxygen." Face it: you gambled $12 on what could have been a great purchase. It didn't work out, now you're stuck with $12 of trash. Toss em back, restack your chips and pony up for the next round. Or stop playing the game and buy only things that are graded ;)

Feel free to have your friend leave a negative. Ebay's feedback system is corrupt, it will not let a seller leave anything but a positive. You cannot even leave a neutral any more. So as a buyer you are free to flame any seller, without feer of retaliation.
That is just Jacked, I have no confidence in eBay's feedback system any more, it is about as worthless as POG's!

So, will someone lick the damn cart or not? I'll toss in 3 or 4 of our incredibly worthy brazilian Reais (or at least try to, since PayPal doesn't work here). And yes, I DO believe that mold can kill a human being. Seriously.

Hmmm...interesting info. I was already reticent about buying things off eBay because it would be difficult to pay (no PayPal here, CC already full)...and now this. At least Mercado Livre (brazilian auction site - I'm not sure, but I guess it's owned by eBay) still allows negative responses, you see them a lot actually. Let's see for how long...

Wow leave the thread for a few days and it goes from dishwashers to licking the carts. (Also seems like some posters only serve to argue with others) Did you end up doing a Pay Pal dispute or contact the seller?

Just throw them out. They are just really beat up/gross carts. There is a vintage dealer local to me who takes about that good of care of his stock. Crap sitting in the same boxes for the last decade, some of it growing mold of it's own. Fading labels. Lovely really. If he took time to sort and label and take care of his product he'd have the best selection. Instead, he ends up with carts that look like that. What do you do with carts like that? Garbage.
As for the whole mold thing, which somehow got brought into this, who cares. My god people worry about stupid crap. Lead paint, monkey bars, concrete playgrounds under said monkey bars, no damned bike helmets, and all that fun stuff. We're all still here. Now the fun toys are gone, people wear protective everything when doing anything, bottled water, health "risks" that are about as threatening as kittens, ugh. I'm not saying eat dinner off of them, but tossing them in the dishwasher then later putting dishes in there isn't going to kill you.

No one ever said you would die, the issue was an unkown material coming into contact with people. If you can put your stamp on it as "okay" then you are asking for a law suit. Now granted the conversation has snow balled, into something more than it should have become, and we've lost sight of a bad deal on ebay that's a reminder "as is" usually means "pile o' cat shit".

Yeah.
Those should never have been sold.
"As-is" should have at least SOME expectation of being decent condition. It also doesn't given an excuse to lie or exclude details.
How the MOTHER HELL did this guy even get these games into such condition anyway? Does the guy just LIVE in filth? If someone offered me FREE games in that condition I'd have to throw them away. 10-to-1 odds are that the PCBs are corroded, too. They'd have to be.

Sadly I would have thrown them out also. Not for fear of death from mold infection, or anything, but because they're so useless. Probably the only time I'd actually throw away a game. (Yeah, I still would have kept Capt. Comic).
