What game is this?

Hey all, there is a game thats really been bugging me for a while. My friend showed it to me once, and now he moved two years back, I have no means of contact with him, and after playing another game thats similar, im dying to know what this game is.

Okay, it's a PC game, it was released at least two years ago, and it features customizable creatures you can create. The main game is similar to that of Empire Earth, where you have to gather resources. Can someone help me?

Spore was only released last year, but you can do that in Spore

Im absolutely positive its not spore. This was before spore was ever conceived (earlier than summer of 06)

I'm pretty sure the game you're talking about is from the "Creatures" series. They were touted as Artificial Life Programs much like Spore but came much earlier. The games in the series were Creatures 1, 2, and 3.

Yeah it's totally Impossible Creatures. It's an RTS where you can crossbreed animals to form mutant species (at least that's what I gathered from a write-up).
