So, my friend has a copy of Final Fight Guy for the SNES.

I know why it exists and all that, but apparently he also has the box/booklet for it...Why would it have a box if it were a rental-only kind of thing? If it were shipped to stores in boxes, how does he have one?

Also, (though you must forgive me if this is inappropriate) how much would FFG go for, complete, in good condition?

Blockbuster would have a box of the game out and the carts in cases behind it on the shelf, IIRC. Been a long time since I've been to one of those stores and I'm not sure how much things have changed (probably a lot?).

There's actually 2 different boxes, which I never knew. I picked up the orange box version when I bought it out of the "please give us a home" bin at blockbuster while ....DreamTR, I think?... has a sealed version in a black box that more closely resembles the normal Final Fight box. I'd never seen that one before he posted a picture of it.

On a total tangent, has anyone ever seen a US version of the Vampire Kiss box (looked different from every other Drac X / Vampire Kiss box photo I can find online)? A local video store was unloading a bunch of SNES stuff back in '97-'98 and I passed on them because they were $20/ea (presumably they were complete), but I'd never seen (or heard of) a US Vampire Kiss box since. Fuck.

That would suggest Vampire's Kiss came out before Dracula X, but the release dates are 1995 for the USA and 1996 for Europe...

Was it simply a Vampire's Kiss box with an oval Nintendo logo?

I remember it didn't have the purple border of the European box; it looked like a US release.

Early mock up maybe? I think Konami was planning to bring Akumajo Dracula X: Rondo of Blood over to the U.S. before that deal fell through so maybe to avoid confusion the Vampire's Kiss title was tossed out for the SNES game. Then when it turned out Rondo wasn't going to make it over they changed the U.S. SNES box art to match Rondo's and changed the title.

The DP Guide here says the game goes for $35 loose but I don't know when the last time that listing was updated.

I'm just making a wild guess here but I'd "guess" a complete, good condition copy would probably sell for somewhere between $100-200. Give or take.......

I'm a big fan of the series but I don't own it primarily because I never liked the Guy character (he sucks). If you want to play through Final Fight using speed, then Cody is your man. He also has a better move set and doesn't take damage quite as quickly as Guy does.

The only time Guy was ever useful, at least in the original Final Fight, was in two player mode if at least one player was using Haggar (and the other using Guy). Only because Haggar's presence can help compensate for such a weak playable character.

Hooo boy you're gonna get a lot of Guy fanboys upset on that one. I personally don't really have a preference since I like Haggar better, even though he's not very good in a single player outing.

Cody can (and I think Guy as well) do that infinite trickery, at least in the arcade; where you throw two jabs, turn around and whiff one, then repeat the process. It's in speedruns and even referenced in one of Cody's Lvl. 3 Supers in Alpha 3. I can find a clip of it if you want.

I think a case can be made for either Haggar or Cody in a single player outing.

Haggar performs much better against the bosses than Cody does.

However, Cody is better against the lesser enemies in each stage leading up to the boss. With the exception perhaps of Axl, Slash and the Andores (any of the bigger underlings), as Haggar tends to do better against them.

To me, Guy is literally helpless against large groups of enemies unless you want to waste his lifebar doing the special move. He also isn't particularly good against any of the bosses.

Either way, it is a lot more fun to play through the game as Haggar than either of the other two.

I hated using Guy in the arcade but truth is, I use him from time to time when I play through Final Fight One on the Gameboy Advance, though not nearly as often as I use Haggar or Cody.

As for Cody, I think it was an absolute shame that he was totally removed from the Final Fight sequels (2 & 3) on the Super NES. Yet Capcom chose to use Guy again in FF3, probably to make up for him not being included in the original Super NES release of FF1.

Although I agree with most of what was said about Guy here, I do like to use him on Mighty Final Fight. But I still prefer Haggar.

Hmm...well, I'll have to see which box my friend has and then make sure he keeps them in good condition.
