I have 2 Super Nova Joysticks that plug into a MAS Super Gun. I was just wondering if these joysticks can be altered or if someone sells like a pinout in order to make these work on a Saturn, DC, Xbox, PS2, GC Etc Etc

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Darren

Couldn't you just buy some converters?

Ah, didn't see the part about them being for a supergun.

If you can dual mod the sticks to work with the supergun and PS1, you can get a converter for practically every system then.

Hmm alright

The ps controller though... I have the MAS pinout but it looks like a PS controller isnt that simple...

Rearranging the pins isn't going to help you. An arcade controller is just a bunch of switches, the circuitry is on the game board. The newer system controllers have ICs that communicate to the console, saying things like "I am an Xbox controller". And all of those button signlas are generated by the controller IC and sent to the same pins. (A 14 button PS1 controller doesn't have 15 pins on the plug, right?) I've never heard of a DB25>PS2 etc. adapter, so I think your only option is to wire the switch pads of a PS2 controller board to a DB25 connector, or directly to the joystick switches.

So, pad hacking.

And by the way, the first time I ever used a soldering iron was on a padhacking project. So it's really not that hard to get into.

Fair enough.

Well no need to ruin these joysticks then. I just like the way they feel. Ill have to build my own as it looks like a nice project.

He also has a note on his site:

Mas Systems

Mas Systems puts together some decent Happ-based controllers with a pretty nice structure (which you perhaps would like to imitate if you are making a custom controller). They tend to use the squared American-type layouts too. They are also a bit notorious for being slow in delivery, and having some PCB problems. (link)

Making your own stick isn't particularly difficult; the only hard part is having a case to put everything in, and some woodworking skills can help there. You can usually go to a site like lizardlick, get some parts, grab a ps1 pcb, and go from there.

is there somewhere I can just buy an arcade stick box so I can build the rest?
