***Nevermind, It was just an Amazon.com Seller jacking up the PS3 Price because Amazon Sold Out of It.***
You can pre-order this at ebgames.com for $79
I know many of us here has a 360 and a Ps3 as well, so what are your thoughts on the price differences for the Collector's Editions of SFIV?
PS3 = $139.99
X360 = $79.99
The 360 and the PS3 variations are Ryu for the PS3, and the 65 Minute movie on a Blu-Ray, opposed to the Movie on DVD for the 360, and the Action Figure is another Character. Both come with the sound track etc...
$60.00 more for the PS3 Version?! Anybody else find this a little steep?

They're the same price, actually. Where are you seeing $140?

BTW - where's the best place to pre-order SFIV? is anywhere giving pre-order bonuses?

Sorry. I just saw the thread title. I was reminded of the days of Street Fighter mania when Street Fighter II Turbo for the SNES was $80+ and those horrible capcom fighter sticks were about the same price for each stick (and they'd last 5 minutes before breaking).
Despite the graphical update, this is definitely not a game I'm getting. And if anyone is so desperate as to pay $140+ for it. Well... Have fun. I'm going to be playing Soul Calibur IV and not bothering you at all.

Thanks for pooping on those of us excited for this release. Also, on the part of Street Fighter fans here at DP, I thank you for confirming that you will be playing Soul Calibur while we play Street Fighter IV. I'm not sure how some of us were going to catch any sleep at night not knowing where you were going to be come February 17th.

I believe Amazon sold out of their allocation of the PS3 version of SFIV CE which is why Hubba Games has stepped in to try and rip people off. Best Buy will be stocking it and by the look of the pre-order boxes at my two local stores, they are getting tons of each version. I seriously doubt either version will sell out, even if it is one of the most anticipated fighting games in many, many years.

Well, my stress would actually have fallen on the first part of my post and not the latter. The high price of the deluxe pack just reminded me of those olden days when things were similarly overpriced.
I'm not interested in the game, but I am somewhat interested in what a hardcore SF fan feels they're getting for that extra money. The pack doesn't seem that special. So I can only assume the seller has priced it that high based on a perception of a fanatically eager fanbase. I wonder how many are selling at that price?

Dude, this thread almost made me shit a brick.
I have my PS3 CE all paid off at my old shop, I saw this, and my heart sunk.
For a game that I had to talk my wife into letting me get (An 80 dollar game is still pretty friggin expensive), that comes out 3 days after Valentines Day (And really, If I don't already spend enough on that night you know the 80 dollar game will be blamed for anything resembling a "Cheap" night out :), there's no way I was going to get my cool Ryu figure and stupid anime on BD, AND I was going to have to get the 360 version if I wanted a CE.
Thank god for it being a retarded online store eh? :)
I've also thought it was great that Sonys been running the "SF4 Ships Feb.17!" banner on the xmb news ticker, makes me kinda proud :)
Does anyone happen to know if the ps3 versions are stuck at 720p btw? It's becoming all too common that you can't run/force a ps3 game up to 1080 :(

When it comes to out of print items or items otherwise unavailable from Amazon themselves, the Amazon marketplace is a haven for flea market eBay granny types; the sort that think every SNES game should be priced as though they were gold-plated.

Sorry to go a little off topic, but does anyone know if Capcom is planning on releasing SFIV on any other systems besides 360 & PS3? I know Capcom were saying they were going to release it for as many systems as possible but I haven't heard any news about it. I'm really wanting a PS2 version.

I think they were going to bring it out for the Wii but then they all realized how stupid of an idea that was and decided against it. Then they killed tigers.
I ran a search and didn't find anything about a Playstation 2 version, so I would guess it's not happening. Really though I think you'd be missing a big chunk of the awesomeness if you didn't see the game in HD. It's damn pretty.

If you discovered that you were looking at an independent seller and not the standard pricing for the PS3 version a few posts in ... wouldn't it serve the original intention of this thread to correct the title - or at least annotate that it is not in fact MSRP $140.
(I only say this because people have a habit of reading headlines or thread titles and not reading beyond.)

well even if that was a remotely accurate estimate of the number of people playing SF4 PC online, which it isn't, I'd still rather wait a few months and get all the DLC for FREE, while idiots like you pay even more to own the full game!
so what's it gonna cost to own a console vefrsion of SF4 with all the DLC? at least $100 - $120 or more, depending on whether or not you buy the boxed set, and where you buy it from... while the PC version is under $40 with tax!
yep, I must be the stupid one here, not paying all that money for one of the console versions, just so I can play against you online... see you at the store trading it in for something else when you have no money left for more games!
boy have MS & Sony got some of you under their spell... I bet you'd sell your soul to the Devil for them too, if they told you that you'd be able to play all their games with all your friends in Hell... and do it for only $6.66 a month!

Let's see.
SF4 Regular Edition - $60
DLC - $10
$70 there.
SF4 Special Edition - $80
DLC - $10
$90 there.
Even then, the special edition says it comes with 5 free DLC's. Which could be all 5 costume packs. Making the Special Edition an even $80. So where exactly in your ass are you pulling these figures from?
And seeing as the main draw of a fighting game is competitive play, plus no major US release of the arcade version (let alone a large number of Arcades in general), paying a bit extra for the console version to have access to thousands of players is completely understandable.
And you, the one who goes on about spending X.XX amount of monies to buy a sealed game has the gall to say others are wasting money?

Some people prefer PCs, some prefer to play games on a console. I despise using a mouse to play a game.

Ok, thanks for the info.
I was hoping they would do a PS2 version, maybe they'll do a port or something later on down the road.
I'm sure it does look great in HD, but I don't have a HD television and probably won't get one for awhile, so I'd be seeing it in a standard television even if I did have a 360 or PS3 to play it on.

well I may be paying them to play their games, but I'm not paying them as much as all you console gamers are! not that there's anything inherently wrong with console gaming beyond that, but that's my whole point... it's way too expensive for what you get now, without getting that much more by doing it on the PC instead... now you often don't even get as much as you get on the PC... but if you just can't wait a few extra months to pay alot less, go for it... go for broke... but you prolly won't be able to afford as many new games as I get every year... doing it this way also allows me to splurge on retro console games, so I can pay triple digits for them, when necessary... but if you're only into modern games, that isn't a problem for you... so to each his own, but I still don't understand why so many are so eager to pay so much for less, instead of paying less for more... it defies logic and common sense, but a fool and his money are soon parted indeed... I would certainly pay more for a PC collector's edition of SF4, if there was one!

I still don't understand what the fuck you're trying to say. You can't fathom people paying extra for the console version, collector's edition of Street Fighter IV? The guy that spent over a hundred bucks for a sealed copy of the original Darkstalkers can't understand why people are willing to drop $80 on an extra-nice edition of the first new Street Fighter game in almost 10 years?

Aren't you the guy who spent four thousand dollars for his gaming PC and then got banned on Midways forums for bitching about MK vs DC? Why the Hell would anyone take financial advice from you?
Using your four thousand dollar PC as a cost comparison, I could(and did) buy a PS3, 360, and a Wii, and still have over two and a half thousand dollars to spend on games, peripherals, and DLC for my three consoles. And that's before you've even bought your first game.
Anyway... We now return you to your regularly scheduled platform zealotry and idiot gibberish, already in progress everywhere but the Midway forums.

I'm gonna do some real simple math here for a second, let's see if you can follow it.
You spent roughly $4000 on your computer, it should last you about 3 years, right? Fine. Let's say you bought 1 game a month for those 3 years at $40 each. That brings you to $5440 (4000+(36*40)), of course discounting any other software licenses or fees you would have to pay that are non game-related.
I spent $400 on my 360 as I bought it when it was still that price, so I'll use that number as a base. Let's say I bought 1 game a month for those 3 years at $60 each, including having Live for all three years and buying an extra controller, that brings me to $2760 (400+(36*60)+(50*3)+50). What the hey I'll even throw in 5 SE's during that time at $80 each and pop another $400 on top, so my total is now $3160. You could've spent $2000 less on that computer and I still come out ahead in the end, not even counting in the inflation/interest factor since you made the initial layout much further back in time.
Explain again how console gamers pay more, because the math simply doesn't agree with you.

Explain again how console gamers pay more, because the math simply doesn't agree with you.
I did the math a few days ago. I came up with the following equation
CC + (CGC * x) = PCC + (PCGC * x)
CC = Console Cost
CGC = Console Game Cost
PCC = PC Cost
PCGC = PC Game Cost
x = number of games where both values even out
So, to determine the point at which the PC route becomes more economical, we just need to plug the appropriate values in and solve for X.
CC = $600 (cost of a Xbox 360 + undefined accessories, I've overestimated a bit)
CGC = $60 (assuming you buy only standard editions and only new)
PCC = $4,000 (as provided by Iron Dragon)
PCGC = $20 (assuming every game you want is $20, which isn't terribly realistic, but there it is)
600 + (60 * x) = 4000 + (20 * x)
600 + 40x = 4000
40x = 3400
x = 85
So, for the PC avenue to be less expensive than the console method, the number of games purchased would have to be greater than 85. At 85 games, both methods are equal.
When x < 85 the console method is cheaper
When x > 85 the PC method is cheaper

PC Gaming is fun, I have an aging machine now ( p4 3.6 geForce 7800 )
The majority of game that come out still run on my computer, but I bought a PS3, a 360, and a Wii instead of upgrading my PC. Why? I will tell you why...
Cheaters. PC Gaming, is so incredibly overrun with cheaters, I called it quits.
Counter-Strike? Ruined.
Battlefield? Ruined.
MMORPGS? Ruined. ( plat farmers, powerlevelers )
That about sums it up, ive tried the past week to play counterstrike, but people just cheat way too much, on every server there is some guy with 40 kills and liek 2 deaths, shotting you through walls, spawning at your spawn point and killing half your team etc...
To me, Console gaming is pretty much locked in. Yea, you can mod an xbox, and risk losing it all, or you can get a rapidfire controller, and you trigger count gets logged, and you lose it all, but thats about it.
I gave up the keyboard and mouse for a controller, because i got sick of cheaters.

$4000 on a PC! To play games on! Holy shit. That's between £2000 and £2600 depending on when you purchased it.
What the hell have you got in that beast, and what rediculously large screen are you playing it on? SLI'd 8800GTXs on a 72" 1080p projector? It wants to be for that much cash. Really, I'm actually intrigued as to what you're playing.
And to keep sort of on topic, my PS3 CE is £59.96 from Amazon UK, and the normal edition is £27.99. Same prices for the 360 versions.
