crazy, I know, but I was looking at the painting recently and it reminded me of the quirky camera man from Earthbound.

Spinning down from the sky periodically to take a picture.

"Fuzzy Pickles!"

you can see the painting here:

common wiki linking problem, just add a ) to the end of it and it'll work.

Magritte rocks

Empire of Light is one of my favorite paintings. Ever.

Whats going on there is so clever and so subtle that sometimes people don't notice it at all.

you mean how the sky is daytime but everything else looks like night?

Or am I missing it completely?

Yes. I wouldn't expect many DP'ers to miss that (we're a clever lot) ... but I'm an art teacher and you'd be surprised how many people CAN miss that.

I'll admit it took me a second or two. I thought it was going to be something crazy like the ones with the canvases.

As weird references go, it's up there.

And now to buy that lovely coastal property in Onett.

There's something... funky... going on with that lamp post too.

The thought just struck me, and I really felt the need to share it, haha.

and speaking of that house you can buy near the coast, here's another René Magritte painting that kinda reminds me of it:

Until I walked through it, I thought the hole in the wall was a picture. But I'd say the house was worth the money. Demon baby articles and all.
