Ok, so I've had WORMS for my Jag for a few years now, haven't played it very much, but I've had this problem ever since I bought it, and I'm just now asking about it.

The Problem: I get the Red Screen when booting up the game on my Base Unit, HOWEVER, I can get the game to work everytime if I use my JaguarCD units' cartridge slot. Why is that? And this is the only game I have a problem with in this area, so I'm not so sure that my base unit is dirty. I bought the WORMS brand new, and the cart is clean. The only difference I can see with the Worms cart, is that the rom chip is that funky green color, instead of the standard White that I see with all my other carts.

Anyone know why I can't get this game to work in my base unit, but it works perfect in my CD unit? Or does anyone else have the same problem with other carts? I don't know maybe I need to clean the cartridge slot on my base unit? Whats a good way to do that on the Jag?

THat red screen has been a problem for me with just about every Jag unit I have ever used. I remember my Battlesphere would do the same thing. What I would do is first blow on or clean the cart, then insert it into the slot HALF WAY. In other words, when you plug it into the base all the way, pull it up just slightly. I found this worked for me every time. Battlesphere wasn't the only cart that I needed to do this with. I also had to do it with my Speedster II prototype when I had that as well.

It might be a Telegames QC issue. I bought 2 new copies of their Zero 5 game at the same time, right when it was released. One copy would boot up fine every time and the other copy took multiple tries to get past the red screen on the same Jaguar. That Jag lockout code is too sketchy.

Zaxxon, thats what I was wondering myself. I've always wondered if it was just because it was a Telegames cartridge, since Worms is the only Telegames cart I have, and thus the only cart that gives me this problem. I'm just befuddled as to why the damn game works perfect in my JagCD, but not at all in my Base unit!!!!

@zektor..Yeah, I've tried the technique you've described many many times with Worms, and to no avail, but only in my base unit. I have to do that with my NES games sometimes too, although not hardly at all now since I changed the pin connector on my NES console.

Ah well, guess I'll just have to always use my JagCD to play Worms :/ It's just that I rarely use the JagCd for anything, and its just an extra hassle to unbox it, and hook it up to play a cartridge :/ One thing I found out though, was you don't have to plug in the JagCD unit if you are just going to play a cartridge game, so I learned something, yay.

You could just buy another Jaguar base unit for like $10. It's good to have a backup and you could just use that as your base unit instead. It'll probably boot fine on a different Jag without the CD unit connected.
