ok, my 360 is not hooked up to my wireless network because i cringe at the idea of paying $100 for a 360 wireless adaptor. dispite this i was very excited about the DLC for fallout 3. lacking a wireless i figured the only way to dl the extra content was to unhook everything lug it into the other room where the computer is and hook it up over a wired connection. after doing all this as well useing my xrgb to display on my monitor (yhea i don't have a 360 VGA cable) i downloaded the new dashboard, created an xbox live account and finally downloaded the "operation anchorage" dlc.

so after lugging it all back into the tv room and setting it up i fired up fallout 3 and got a little screen saying "adding extra content" or something like that and was happily reassured the content was dled properly. well after wondering the wastes and checking online i was confused why i was not getting the new mission. well after consulting the official website i read

"In order to access your DLC, you must be logged into LIVE from within the game. Click the LIVE option on the Main Menu, log into your LIVE account, and then the Downloads menu will be available and should show that Operation: Anchorage has been downloaded and is available in the game."

ok......is this pretty much saying that i have to be online for this extra content to work??? maybe i'm missing something but thats ridiculas and unpractical for me to do in my current household setup via wired connection. so basicly i have to grit my teeth and buy the wireless adaptor?

or grab some cat5e and some ends and make a cable, even if only a temporary one.

or grab an old wrt54g. think i read somewhere that they can be used as a wireless adapter instead of the official one.

That's a strange one. All of the Oblivion DLC was available whether you were online or not. I think you're taking the quote from their site too literally. In fact, this would be the first time something like this would require you to be hooked up to XBL.

I would reconnect to XBL and start up Fallout 3. After 5-10 minutes of wandering around, you'll get the message saying something about a radio broadcast. That's the beginning of Operation Anchorage. Save your game, then disconnect from XBL and start the game (loading that newest save). I'd bet you'll have access to mission offline. It's worth a try.

I didn't get the radio message (that starts Operation Anchorage) straight away. I had to go to Megaton then walk out into the wasteland again before the message popped up. If you've been wandering around the wasteland you may need to enter and exit a location before it pops up?

I can't remember if I was connected to Live or not. :(

In the script that launches the anchorage DLC, there's a 4 minute delay for some reason.

Aside from that, the DLC itself is a buggy mess and some people are having trouble even getting it to trigger. It's pretty much the buggiest 2 hours i've ever seen in a game.

ok, that worked. thanks for the help. i guess there was one more thing that needed installed but i had to have fallout in the machine while it was connected to xbox live for it to work.
