Watch classic gamers in their natural habitat.
Thanks to my technically superior friends, the old "every 5 seconds" camera broadcasting from the store's central island has been upgraded. It's still not exactly "real-time" but it's pretty smooth and actually faster than my security cameras over the internet!
You can still screen grab, too.
Have fun spying in!

Hey, that's pretty cool actually! I just saw two random people walk by...not even knowing their were being filmed lol :) Will the camera always be fixed on the arcade cabinets or will you "swivel" it around every now and then?
I really wish I had the chance to go to your store before I moved (moved from NYC to Las Vegas). Regardless, its always fun to see/hear all the new and interesting things that always happen at your store :)

What on earth is that man doing to the arcade machine? Looks like he's watched the robot humper sketches one too many times on Robot Chicken.

Either they're in it together or The Man just really wants to play that specific machine.
Let's stay tuned to find out.

I especially like the fact that this streaming feed runs perfectly on my G1 Android phone's web browser.

Cool Idea Joe.... :) This will come in handy when there are NAVAs for people to watch LIVE. Too bad there isn't any audio...

It's got to make you a little paranoid when someone bumps this thread at this time of night.

Wow, it actually looks really cool running at night with the store lights off ... the ambience of Piaget Ave. at night with its soft focused street lights is almost hypnotic.

Yeah, I was changing the carts on the "candy" Neo-Geo. I have to get all "up in it" ... then again, maybe I was just making out with it.

Then just watch.

LISTEN! Customers fuck around with the camera and it gets knocked out of focus. If you ever see that happen, fastest way (and helpful if you don't mind making the call) is to call the store 973-772-1111. Second best is to PM me here. Calling will get it fixed right away though.

There's like ten feet of cable attached to the cam, which is located in the center island of the store. It can be moved almost anywhere, but it's not always on our minds when we're working. Again, feel free to call the store for a camera change or suggest here what 'angle' you'd like. I like to point the camera into the island itself but unless it's Maryah or I my team doesn't seem real comfortable with that. My favorite angles are the ones that hit customers at the register.

Calling might be expensive for some people, not everyone is that local to you. Some people might have to stick with PMs. :)
Does that ever creep out any customers? Knowing that they're being filmed and broadcast publicly on the internet, that could be scary for some people. Like that guy that was too nervous to ask you to hold games aside and was stuffing them behind something instead. I do like hearing about the store. :-D

Nice work, Joe! I've just added "Flipping off the DP camera" to my bucket list.
Have you had your first webcam flasher yet? Any nips, mams, hoo-hahs, wangs, or shiny butts?

Like it. :) I can tell I'm gonna get addicted to this. The afterhours shots are especially cool, dark and moody.

I understand that, but the days of land lines and pay-per-distance calling are slowly evaporating. Between Vonage and call plans that include unlimited long distance I think a call is a very viable option for a great many people who use the internet. Sure, you can always just PM me but I'm not always there and a call gets immediate results. Just throwin' it out there.

Quite the opposite. Even with the old "snapshot" style camera we've had here for the last two years I find more people mugging in front of the camera with their cellphone ("hey, can you see me now?").

Oh, tish tosh! When a 63-year-old dude of uncertain Eastern European origin casually strolls in, whips open his terrycloth robe in front of the camera and shows the world his Prince Albert, it's a beautiful thing.

I'm currently getting a black screen with red X-live stream so I think it might be down at the moment.
Too early for me to call the store so I hope Joe checks the thread.

Yeah, we USUALLY turn the computers off at night, so there won't be a feed before 11 or after 8pm most days. Store is open now, cam is up and running.
