So I started thinking about this while discussing the Turbo Grafx / Sega CD with a co-worker too young to know what the TG-16 was. >_>
We've all had the Top 10 (systems)(genres)(games) discussions, but what about all those little kibbles and bits that helped make Full Motion Video games and sequences? Well, here's to those almost lost moments of gaming (thanks EA!).
Here's the rules:
1. Pick the top 5 props you'd love to have in your game room from an FMV moment.
2. It may be a full FMV game (like Night Trap), digitized actors (Mortal Kombat) or just a live action sequence (like in the
current Command & Conquer games).
2a. You must mention the prop and game at mimimum. Reasons why you love it, or where it is in the game would be nice to boot.
3. The actors / actresses do not count as props. :)
4. No cartoon / CG FMV! Must be actual real Hollywood material!
That said, I'll lead off. (In no particular order):
1. The Trivia Computer in Fox Hunt (PS one / PC)
The scene has our hero playing along with a TV quiz show at a bar, with a very over-produced module that looks like the Bunk Rodgers equivalent of those things you play with at Buffalo Wild Wings.
2. The Auger Weapon from Night Trap (Sega CD / 32x / PC / 3DO)
Seriously - the drill never even came close to the necks of the victims. Would be great to have behind the counter at work.
3. The Sewer Shark from Sewer Shark (Sega CD / 32x / PC / 3DO)
The Sewer Shark was just the goofiest looking craft but for some reason I could not get enough of the game when it came with my Model 2 Sega CD. I even mapped out the entire game so I knew where the Rats were before they appeared. Honorable mention goes to Catfish, the robot. :)
4. The Head Set the black guy wears in Soviet Strike (PS One / Saturn / PC)
I always loved the intro to that game, and for some reason that goofy ass "Laser Scope" looking thing looked like it was an early alpha for the Borg.
5. The complete J.B Harold outfit from Blue Chicago Blues (Laseractive / Saturn / PS One)
One of the most amazing games I have ever played, and it took place in my home town. :D I'd probably have a dummy dressed in his outfit, sitting in the Sewer Shark hodling the Auger gun. Oh sweet Rapture. ;)
Go ahead, give props to your favorite props!
