I bought a used GBA game, Game and Watch Gallery 4 if that makes a difference, and some things in the game were unlocked because of progress made by the previous owner. I was looking everywhere on the cart for deleting the memory or erasing the progress on the game that they made and I found nothing that would allow that. Am I missing something? Is there some sort of universal code that deletes game progress on GBA games, or am I just screwed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found this on GameFAQs. Hope it helps!

Erase all saved data
At the title screen press:
up,up,down,down,left,left,right,right
If done correctly the screen will go black for a moment, and all high scores, stars, ect. will be deleted.

I had the same problem for Advanced Wars 1 or 2 I can't remember. I was a B to figure out. I finaly did but don't seem to remember what it was. I think it was just some scary wording and I wasn't sure if that is what I actualy wanted to do. But it's not easy to figure out.

I always find it annoying when it takes a secret code to delete data. I guess maybe the idea is to make it difficult to accidentally do so, but I'd still prefer it hidden away in a menu that I can easily find when I need it. Sometimes the codes are listed in manuals, which just all the more contributes to the idea that they don't want us to buy the games used and thus have a desire to clear the data.

You'd think the least they could do is have some type of univeral code to delete information if they don't want to make up a certain menu screen for it.

I just don't get why most people throw out the packaging instead of keeping it. You're paying for the whole item which includes the packaging, so why throw it out if you paid for it? I even knew a classmate of mine who told me he threw out all of the cases and instructions for his PS2 games, he just kept the disks.
