I recently just started collecting video games mostly Sega Genesis right now because it was my favorite when i was in elementry and middle school...So im just trying to get as many as possible i know threres 708 in the US releases so im kinda pushing to get them all but who knows. Does anyone have an sugestions where I should try hunting for them ive been to our local flea market and theres a pawn shop in my town...But thats the only place ive heard of around me...New york city is like 2 and half hours away from where I live in PA ive thought of going up there in a week or two to go to this one pretty nice sized retro-gaming store on St. Marks place in the east village...

Are you looking for boxed or loose? I have a whole bunch in my trade box, I'd be happy to cut you a good deal on a bulk purchase - I'm trying to make some room.

Trade box is in the Buying & Selling forum.

By the way, welcome to the Roundtable, FrankLee!

Not to be obvious but, Gamestop?. Many of the Gamestop's in my area have phased out the Genesis titles -but the ones that still carry them usually have a decent amount. *Warning-Be prepared to pay up to $10 on some titles*. I'd say go to www.gamestop.com and use their store locator to find the store nearest you -then you may want to call and ask about Genesis games before you go.

Genesis prices are still dropping like a stone, specifically at Gamestop. For specific titles, like kilmatron said, the store locator on their site works well. For loose titles, Gamestop can't be beat.

If you want boxes, eBay is good, because everything is still very cheap, and few games garner any attention or competition at all.

You picked the right system to start with! You probably can get any and all games you want to play loose for $100 or less, depending on how many you're looking for. Just shop around and compare. :)

Please for the love of god, go to all the gamestops, funcolands, flea markets, eBay, thrift stores FIRST before going to Multimedia. Unless, that is, you WANT to pay about $10 for a boxed Madden.

Bwhahaha, Adrienne, I don't know what this board would do without you. :D

And, uhh, yeah, the place on St. Mark's Place has a lot of crap, but is a tad pricey.

man, I've been seeking genny games, and all I ever find are the stupid sports titles... usuall $3-4 too. Most of the gamestops around here have nearly phased out all genny games or at least charge way too much for them.

I just recently won Wonderboy in Monsterland and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle complete in great condition on Ebay. 15 + 4 dollars shipping. I would have been willing to pay that much for just the Wonderboy so how well do you folks think I made out?

Yea i live in a pretty small town and I looked at this local video store that someone told me that had sega games so i went there to look all of them were sports games except a bass fishing game and mortal kombat and i already have mortal kombat. Needless to say I was pissed, I also looked at my local EB but no luck so i tried collectors haven near my town no luck but there is a pawn shop in sunbury that sells sega games. So right now i buy sega games from the pawn shop, friends and ebay (ive only gotten one genny title off ebay)

Bratwurst - what i think doesn't matter -how do you think you made out? If your happy -then you made out. I paid less -but both my games are loose. Do you guys have salvation army out there? Also - try using a search engine and searching "antiques" or "collectibles" on yahoo you can do a zip code search.

www.ebgames.com has a wide selection of genisis games for reasonable prices that don't reach over the limit.

To answer your ORIGINAL QUESTION. The games I would suggest
you to look for:

SONIC & KNUCKLES the lock on feature gives new life to old games
SONIC 2 the best of the Sonic games
Phantasy Star a must own RPG series but don't forget 4
Virtua Racing the best 16+ bit racer ever made
