Hey, i found a lot of threads discussing their favorite console games, but i have not seen any reccomending atari games. So what are your favorites and why?

also, i see there are 3 models, the 2600, the 5200, and the 7600. what are the differences and which one has the "best" games?

thanks a lot!

Well, the 7800 is your best bet, since it's backwards compatible with Atari 2600 games. The joysticks aren't exactly ergonomic, but you might get used to them (like I have). The 7800 has some... unique and interesting game titles for it, like Midnight Mutants (my favorite), Ninja Golf, Basketbrawl, Alien Brigade, Fatal Run (hey, I liked it at least), Food Fight, Ballblazer, and Scrapyard Dog. There's also good versions of Xevious, Ms. Pac-Man (the most accurate version out there, considering it was ported by the guy who originally wrote the arcade version), Robotron, etc.

You didn't? Wow, you must not have looked hard enough. Trust me when I say, here at Digital Press, the Atari 26/52/7800 has been discussed at length for yeeeeeeeeeears. Here, I'll get you started with the threads you would have found in Classic Discussions had you bothered to look there:

And the Atari systems are also discussed in a myriad of "classic system" threads (Best classic game; Favorite classic system; etc.)

Now that I've given you some places to look (and feel free to add your own thoughts to those threads), I'm going to lock this thread as being really, really redundant.

Sorry if you feel like I'm giving you a hard time, but "What is the best game for..."; "What are the Top 10 games for..."; and "Recommend me a game for..." threads have been done to death around here - and classic systems, even moreso.
