Okay I've seen the other variations with Astro Warrior/Hang-On, Safari Hunt/Hang-On, Hang-On, or Alex the Kidd.
Yet today at a flea market, I found one with a pair of broken 3D glasses for $15. Upon boot up, Missile Defense 3D appears to my surprise! I've never seen one like this!

I've got one of those myself. I don't think they're that special though?

it was one of the more uncommon sms releases, but not as tough to find as a maste rsystem 2.

I had one of those pass through my hands. Pretty neat game w/ the 3d glasses. It was pretty beat up, though, so I sold it off.
I didn't know that was built-in on any version, so when it came up I thought that the Shooting Gallery cart I had in it was misprinted. Then it happened with another cart, and *bing*, the light when on. Connector was just really dirty.

It was one of three variants released at the SMS' launch, made to be the "deluxe" version of the system to compete with the NES ROB bundle.

The SMS I ended up selling to my brother (along with a ton more stuff for like $10.00) is that variant. You get to hate the theme music when you get a cartridge that won't boot up. LOL

I found the exact same deal about 3 weeks ago except mine from Goodwill! Came with 1 controller, 1 light gun, 1 broken set of 3D glasses (1 ear piece was broken, I hoped they would still work), and the cords.. I'd never seen one with MD3D built in, then again I'd never seen one in the wild with the glasses either.
I also found another SMS unit a long while back that apparently has no game built in. I've found several SMS systems over the years, that is the only one that didn't have any game built in. What does that signify SMS experts?
Is there a page that details these revisions to the console?

the one with "no game" really has a built in snail maze game (hold the buttons and press either left or right to play it)

First SMS units had a cart with hang on and safari hunt instead of it being built in. The pack that came with the 3D glasses came with missile defense built in.
