I busted out my ROB today for the NES, and I remembered why I had never played a game with him before -- I have two Robots and one Gryomite set (complete), but I can't for the life of me get him to work. According to the instructions, I went to the 'test' page and adjusted him... and adjusted him... and adjusted him... and never once did I get the LED to blink. On one of the two (the one I think is functional, the other seems broke), I did get the LED on his head to turn on solidly, but when I go to the "test" screen in Gyromite, nothing moves and it just stays on. There is no flicker.
Any ideas to get him to hook up with the TV? I'm using a flat CRT screen to try this, and a Generation NEX with the game in it. Everything seems fine, but I'm baffled, and it seems there is almost nothing online to help tell me how to better angle him or whatever needs to be done to make him actually 'see' the TV.

some tv's were too bright for him to register. he came with a little pair of sunglasses that would help in that situation.
you'll need to trouble shoot him, he's very prone to breakage.
when you turn him on, does his arms go up down and rotate?
if he does that then his motors should be ok, i'd also try a few differnt tvs, as well as moving him to differnt spots to see if you get any response from him. i'm thinking it might be your tv as I've had a few tvs over the years that he just didn't want to work with.

...tvs over the years that he just didn't want to work with.
I'd find it an irony if he won't work with a Sharp NESTV...

I have two robots and one has a tinted and flat eye covering. Not the visor it came with. What's up with that shit? Check it out for yourself here (http://www.the72pin.blogspot.com)!
Maybe some of you guys might know. As far as ROB's punk-ass working with a LCD or Flat-sceen, I've never seen it work. And what's up with you guys using those after market NES machines? Just buy a toaster or top loader...the original. maybe that's why you're having problems. :shameful:

That's the thing. I have trouble shot him, as far as I can tell. Of the two that I have, one of them turns all the way to the right, raises his arms all the way up and then stays there. I don't think he's perfectly functioning, as I thought that he was then supposed to reset his arms in the center position, which the other one does perfectly. Neither, however, will hook up to the TV. I literally spent 20 minutes moving him around the room trying to get him to show some life, and nothing happened. Then, like I said, the one that I think is functioning had his LED go on (never flashing) and he never took commands.
I'll try messing with the contrast settings or try him on a different TV...

That shouldn't make any difference, as ROB doesn't interact with the system itself in any way other than pushing buttons. As for why I'm using a NEX, because it is the easiest to hook up. I do have a toaster, a top loader, and a Sharp NES TV too.

As has been suggested, try a different TV. That's my bet, and since it is the easiest 'next step', I wouldn't bother with anything else until that has been checked.

Question, does a Zapper work on the TV? I haven't found a single TV that is a flat panel, LCD or not, that can handle the Zapper.
But yeah, try some more TVs.
