I think the title says it all! These are both among my favorite Capcom franchises. I grew up on SF and as I got older RE2 came out and I stopped playing fighters for a long time until a while back, and after playing a bunch of 2d fighters again I'm all hyped up for SF4! But yesterday I tried the demo for RE5 and I'm hyped about it as well! So with that being said, RE5 or SF4 and why?

If you end up leaning towards RE5 instead of SF4, consider Deadspace instead. Deadspace controls like RE5 should, and after playing Deadspace for a while, you will probably find RE5's controls completely unusable.

I played RE5's demo with high hopes and I thought it played like garbage. I'm going to wait on full reviews till I get my hopes up.
Street Fighter IV I've already played in the arcade and it is amazing. If your a fan of the older games, you'll fit right into it. The game has a great feel to it and I can't wait to get it.

Xbox magazine gave RE5 a 9of10 and the Official Playstation Magazine gave it a 5of5.
SFIV is getting equal or better reviews.
So you can't go wrong. SFIV is a game you can play forever, RE5 you may want to trade in after a quick playthrough, and then pick up SFIV with your credit.

Get both, collectors editions
The best way is:
sf 4 - ps3, better default controller and optional mad catz controller is wireless
re5 - x360, better graphics and less slowdown

i did it the other way,
sf4 - 360, less graphics, machine wont red ring
re5 - ps3, more graphics, better built machine

Try again, using the brain this time. What you wrote don't make any sense

They're both first-day purchases for me, so I'm glad I don't actually have to choose. If I did, I'd go with SF IV, no question. I have a long history with SF II and all its iterations, and I've been addicted to SSFII Turbo HD Remix for the last couple of months. I'm sure I'll get at least 10-20X the play time out of SF IV than I will out of RE 5.

sure it does, RE5 is alot more involved with the gpu, so it will cause the machine to run alot hotter, the 360 doesnt cope with heat as well as the ps3.
SF4 is cartoonish, not very heavy on graphics.
The 360 GPU is directly under the DVD drive.

I downloaded the RE5 demo. After playing RE4 on the Wii, I thought the controls were perfect. 10+. I really wish either the Wii was in 1080p, or the PS3 had a Wiimote.

Yeah, If RE5 played like RE4 Wii it would be fantastic.

Yeah, I'll be getting RE5 anyway for PS3, hope the controlls are easy to get used to.

RE5 for me personally just because I haven't tried SF4 yet...
Both will prove to be solid in the long run I'm sure...

Considering I can find any and every fighting game that has come out for around $20 in a couple of months, and I really liked RE4 and the RE5 demo, I'd be dumb to buy SFIV now. Even though Street Fighter is the only fighting game that I can personally get into, I can still wait on it. :)
RE5 on the other hand is probably my most wanted game the first half of this year next to The Godfather II.

I'm a huge fan of RE5 and Capcom in general. I was never that into Street Fighter, though I do enjoy most fighting games, and this does look pretty spectular. I'll get RE5 release day. Though I'll have to wait for SF4, since I'm having Arcade in a Box make a custom PS2/3 arcade stick for me. Ever since I've got used to using a arcade stick, I find it impossible to go back to a pad.
It's a tossup with me what system to get RE5 for, but I'm leaning on PS3. After all I've played most of the RE series on a playstation, so it just feels natural.

Two great games bound to be classics in the future? Buy them both.
Both, though I'm looking forward to RE 5 more.

RE5 for me, though I do also want SFIV, co-op RE is just too tempting and I had no problem with the demo, the controls are standard RE affair, dunno what you were expecting, another game maybe?

Street Fighter IV - PS3
Resident Evil 5 - Both PS3 and 360 Collector's Editions. Need them for my RE collection.
Though a little tidbit I noticed: This is the first multi-platform RE game that there's no differences in the two versions.

Both games for me as well. SFIV on PS3 and RE5 on XBOX360, but I think Resident Evil might get played a little less. If Resident Evil came out this week instead of Street Fighter than I would have a whole month to beat this game a couple of times, but since Street Fighter is coming out first, once I beat Resident Evil 5 I doubt I'm going to keep playing it and will probably go right back to Street Fighter.

I agree completely. In the longrun SF4 is going to have the replayability value. And honestly after playing the RE5 demo it really is a vamped up version of RE4, but the co-op is awesome and the formula still holds up damn well. Seeing as how SF4 came out today I'll probably get it first and then RE5 later. Someone mentioned Dead Space earlier and I agree completely, that game was amazing and the controls are way better than RE5, as a matter of fact I'm hoping that someone makes the changes to the controls before the game releases. Not being able to walk and shoot at the same time is so PSOne!

SF IV by a Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile. The RE5 demo killed any interest and anticipation I had for the game and even made me cancel my pre-order. Besides, the replay value of SF IV will probably be unmatched for a very very long time.
So, SF IV all the way!

Having picked up SF IV today, All I can say is that game kicks ass! being a SF fan this one is becoming one of my faves of the series.
Not to say that RE 5 will not be cool or I'm uninterested in playing it because I am. but as others the replay value and online play is very high with SF IV. :)
