Since I need to be prepared to pay for an Ebay item I didn't exactly intend to buy for THAT much, I'd like to know how much this would be worth. It has all controllers and cables, the styrofoam, manuals, fully-working console (I reconditioned the pin connector myself and it works like a dream with clean games), zapper, pristine R.O.B., and so on.

The only defects are: some denting in the corners of the box, a small tear on one end of the box, and the Gyromite and Duck Hunt boxes are a little mangled from being stuffed into storage for a good fifteen years.

The NES Deluxe bundle is very popular and seems like 300 to 350 is a good price for the system you are describing.

The last NES Deluxe that i bought on the eBay costed 300 + 80 usd shipping ... but the box had many holes in the front of the box (seemed like someone pinched the box with a pen :S) and it lacked a the ROB manual and the boxes of Duck Hunt and Gyromite .... to make up the missing things the system included 20 games, mostly common but very clean games.

Hope this helps to calculate the value of that system :D

Pictures?

Well, I need to pick up new batteries for my camera (the picture quality has become lacking with the proper light filtering and flash capabilities, which require more power), but I can take a few and post them tomorrow if I remember.

I have absolutely no idea as to the value, and since there is some wear on the box corners and edges (and poor Gyromite's box is kinda...squished), I never thought it would be worth anything more than $50 or so. Who knows? I certainly don't.

Er, apparently, this ISN'T the Deluxe Set but rather just a Nintendo Entertainment System with everything you'd get in a Deluxe Set. I asked the former owner (this is the NES I was working on a few weeks ago) if this is the original box, and she said that it was, and that they'd bought it for Christmas in '85 and never replaced any of the components, including the box and accessories.

Any of the boxed systems can and do sell for $100 and up to the right buyer and through the right forum. I just sold a NES Action Set for $100 on CL and it was missing the manual for Mario/Duck Hunt, had the wrong paper work w/ it, and had tape on the box. Granted you wouldn't get that much on Ebay, but it only took me a week to get it on CL.

This could actually work out in your favor. Deluxe set only sell for around $200 or so now (you can find a number sitting on eBay at this very moment for that price). Anything more than that is too much.

If she has another NES system (not the deluxe set), but has a boxed stand-alone ROB, it would be worth a hell of a lot more. The boxed ROB alone is worth upwards of $200, plus whatever the NES would pull.

If the ROB has never been opened, I would pay you $300 for it right now lol!

Unfortunately, she has nothing else that I didn't already acquire from her. She says the R.O.B., Zapper, and all the other accoutrements came in that single box, which, even though it included everything that came with the Deluxe, is not actually the Deluxe. Or, rather, it does not say Deluxe anywhere on the box.

I forgot batteries again, but I'll see if I can snap a few photos and get good enough resolution to be helpful. Also note that I have both controllers draped over coat hangers in my closet to uncurl their cords.

Alright--these are the best pics I can provide. Also, I've apparently made a liar out of myself: the system manuals are nowhere to be found. Both Gyromite and Duck Hunt have theirs, but the instructions for R.O.B., the Zapper, and the Control Deck were apparently lost long ago.

To be honest, i did not know that variation of the box; it is a canadian or european version ?

It IS the deluxe set ... strange that the box does not have the name of the set ... have you checked on ebay to see the differences of the box ?

This might be wrong but my understanding is that this is the original packaging for the Deluxe Set and the actual label "Deluxe Set" was added later on, when they started making other sets, like the Power Set, Action Set, Challenge Set, Sports Set, etc... Or maybe when they released the Control Deck. Anyway however it went that is the earlier version I believe.

I am sure that some collectors can pay more if this is the first set :D

jahvybe, I believe that you are correct, I have heard this before (and I have a box to one of these). Nintendo had to include R.O.B. to get the NES to sell. After it was a bit more established, they released the "Control Deck" variant, and added the "Deluxe Set" label to this one.

Interesting...this would make sense, though. I've known her and her family for quite some time, and she is the type who usually gets her Christmas shopping over with by July, so it wouldn't surprise me if she picked up one of the first NES units to appear on the shelves.

I guess I need to find myself the hardware manuals for the components...time to make another WTB thread!

I could certainly see myself paying $180-$200 or so for this, even without those manuals. I can't rightly say I recall ever seeing a box for the Deluxe Set (or, more accurately, what would eventually become the Deluxe Set) without the actual words "Deluxe Set" printed on the box.

Hmmm...very interesting.

I have a couple of leads on the manuals, which apparently turns out to be one thick volume for the Deluxe Set instead of the the two-or-three booklets for later bundles. I don't think I'll bother trying to replace the plastic bags and wrappings for the components--this is a USED system, after all. The A/V cables are still unopened, though they're a dime a dozen at this point.

$180-$200...might as well put it on the high end at $200 with the manual.

I'm waiting on the manual to arrive right now, but if anyone is really interested in this, I can go ahead and put up a thread for it in the Marketplace.

I gotta add. I find it weird that nintendo would push the rob aspect of it more than the console itself.

Obviously you know very little about the retail climate for video games during when this was released. Retailers wanted nothing to do with games after the 1983 industry crash. ROB was created to make the system look like an interactive toy, rather than a video game console.

I have one of these that I would not mind selling.
Seeing the prices on them really is kicking me to sell..I actually have a second one with a damaged box and unused ROB in it too..plus a box with no inserts..hmm,maybe I should switch the boxes to use the better one.

The two of the sets with the inserts take up so much room..

My problem is,
How to go about shipping something like this...
Do you put it in a Big Box..?
Wrap it?

I use USPS..I just don't have the option to use UPS right now..(but I would not mind hearing any info on it)

Man will USPS take something this big and WOW!! at what cost?
What do you feel the starting price to ship something this big would be?$30 $50.00

I sent an Xbox system in it's box to CA and it cost me like $30.00 via priority mail..:beaten:

Yes, the USPS will take that big of a box - just make sure you pack it well. The postage will be a killer. Just go for Parcel Post. :(

USPS and UPS both = epicfail. FedEx Ground is the way to go and save.
