So apparently digital press doesn't buy PS1s anymore and Gamestop is offering a whopping $2 in credit only.

I'm not really well versed on the video game secondary market - what's it worth? I'm pretty much happy to take anything more than zero.

I bought mine used. I think it's modded to play legit japanese games. I dont know if it actually runs legit US games since I dont own any PS1 US games anymore.

I was thinking $10.

We sell them in our store for $20 when we have them. Ours are stock and not modded. So $10 is very good deal for someone. Put on your local craigslist for $20 and take offers.

I agree with Daft. I'd sell a stock one with a couple games (nothing special) for about $20 around here without too much trouble. People seem to be able to drop a 20 without much pause, but more and they start to think what else (games or otherwise) they might be able to get (e.g. a PS2, groceries :-P). Needs to be 'ready to hook up and play', though.

Was $2 not good enough for you? Anyway, like the other posters said, craigs list is a good way to make atleat $10 on it. You could probably get close to $10 on ebay but you can't mention it was modded or they'll remove your auction.

I have seen many old models going for 30 or 40 with common games included on the eBay.

In Mexico a good old gray Ps1 can sell for 400 or 500 pesos, like 28 usd

Why would I want to take $2 in CREDIT at a store I never shop at due to it's bloated prices? $2 doesn't even cover the transportation to go there.

I'm not going to sell it on ebay. The shipping would cost more than the unit.

Modded you can get $20 on CL, not-modded it's worthless, imo. I see them on CL all the time and they never sell. Unless there's games or something w/ it no one wants it.

2 controllers and a memory card will help it sell faster, for sure.

Were you trying to sell a MODDED system on here for $10? I've seen people selling them (actually I'm not entirely sure if or how many they sold) for up to $60. I'd never pay that since they're on CL in my area all the time for $20. But yes, unmodded it is worthless to just about everyone. (I have kept mine b/c there are a handful of games that don't work w/ PS2/3.)

Only mod I give a damn about is a region-mod. I think w/ the PS1 you can chip it to play both Japanese and burnt-disc games. I don't need this anymore tho as I now own a Japanese PS2, but before I got that I was looking to buy one off CL. Every time I saw one tho the person was too far away.

If you have one of the first units (Unlikely) With RCA jacks on the back they are worth a bit more than others. The audio quality is supposed to be equivalent to $6,000 CD players, Or so I read two years ago.

Even if this is true about the audio quality, I've never seen evidence that they actually sell any better than any other revision. Also, in my experience, most of the time they are dead because of cooling issues those early units had.

I keep my PS1 because it's:

1.) Original, I got it when I was a little kid when it came out.
2.) Excellent memories with that bitch <3
3.) It's modded, so I can play any game I want on it.

You should just rip some stupid kid off and tell him it's A PS1 BUT IT PLAYS PS3 GAMES CUASE ITS MODDED AND I WILL SELL IT TO U 4 ONLY 200 DOLARS
