If you live in Beverly Hills and have a truck, you can come on down (maybe) and bid on Michael Jackson's Pac Man machine. (He's broke) It has a little wear on the side, and has a Ms Pacman marquee installed, but is expected to be in working condition. I don't know what board set is installed.
He's also selling his glove, the gates to Neverland Ranch, Edward Scissorhands' scissor hand gloves, and a golf cart with him cosplaying as Peter Pan painted on the hood. And some other stuff.

There are certainly some interesting and nostalgia pieces there. Not sure if I would be interested in a used pair of socks though.

I would pay $2000 for that oil painting where he's a king, it's so awesome!

If he was truly broke (which I doubt) why would some of the proceeds go to charity? I can't imagine MJ being broke. He may be liquidating assets but not broke.

You don't have to be broke to be hurting for money.

Hi there,
You don't have to be broke to be hurting for money.
True, I guess it comes down to definition. Such as there were reports decades ago that MC Hammer was broke but he still was a millionaire. He didn't have a much as he had before but he was still comfortable.
When I hear broke I hear no money. So yes, I don't believe he is broke by my definition but he may be going through some financial changes. I believe he will be still worth millions just maybe not as much as he use to be.
That's why I would say he's liquidating assets. I'm sure he (and his accountant(s)) are seeing things that just aren't worth having anymore. They are worth more to him liquidated vs. hording them up. I think we all go through this when our financial landscape changes.
Plus, hasn't he moved from Neverland? Maybe his place isn't as big and can't hold all of this stuff.
I guess I'm getting a little off topic now though...sorry.

Did he sell off those Beatles rights yet? I think someone reported that it was being considered.

Check out the arcade auction catalog. It's amazing what MJ has....a Sega R-360, DDR cabinets, and even console demo units (including a ultra rare Virtual Boy one!).

The R360 makes me downright envious...and I don't dare go past the third or fourth page. Absolutely amazing stuff combined with trash like poker games, funny.
I have to say I feel bad for the guy at losing all this, but then I wonder how much use he's getting out of the stuff lately.

So I checked out Kotaku's story about the king of pop's video game collection today. I decided to check out the list for fun. I was surprised not just at the arcade games, but he had some display stands for console games that are listed at fairly affordable prices. Nevertheless, most are missing the monitors, but all of them came with the system.
Here is what I saw:
Pg. 33: N64 Display stand ($100-$150) without TV, 3DO Display Stand ($100-$150) Panasonic version without TV, Sony Playstation Display Stand ($200-$300) with TV.
Pg. 35: Virtual Boy Display Stand ($100-$150)
Pg. 40: SEGA Saturn Display Stand ($100-$150) with TV and creepy blue girl from those creepy ads.
Pg. 64: Super Nintendo Display Stand ($200-$300) with TV and possibly FF2.
pg. 66: SEGA Genesis + Game Gear Display Stand ($200-$300) Game Gear appears to be missing and the auction listing is pretty confusing.
SEGA Dreamcast Display Stand ($200 - $300)
I'm not familiar with how much Display Stands usually go for, but I'd assume this would be normal or a pretty good deal. Of course this is being auctioned off and other gamers will most likely be bidding.
I have no idea how the auctions work, but I'm sure you can find out more on the website. The entire catalog of games can be viewedhere. (http://www.juliensauctions.com/auctions/2009/michael-jackson/icatalog4.html) Pretty good arcade games if I don't say so myself. He had two copies of the Simpsons for some odd reason though...

I'd pay 150$ for a VB display stand...

Those items will not be going for those prices. That's called an estimate and has nothing to do with what they will actually sell for. They will sell for whatever they get bid up to. I know I'm going to the auction and I know at least 5-6 other collectors in the LA area are going also, plus on-line and phone bidding is available. As a result, I doubt any real bargains will be had.

I read the article on Kotaku, there's no mention of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. I guess it's because he's either keeping it, or he doesn't own it. If he didn't own it I would find that very ironic.

Bojay if you can take some notes on what they get for the displays im sure alot of people would be interested.

Wow, that catalog is incredible- if you have ever asked the question, "what would happen if a child had an unlimited credit card and could buy whatever they want?" then this is the answer for you!
I honestly think that they should just keep all of this stuff at the ranch and turn it into a museum.

I thought I heard awhile back that MJ was going to live in the mideast somewhere; Qatar or Bahrain, or something. It's probably more convenient to sell this stuff then move it.
Excellent collection though. I imagine it's all in near mint condition too...

He did but then moved back to the USA.

He's probably not literally broke, just not well off enough to afford whatever expensive lifestyle he has become accustomed to. Seriously, look at that gold interior in the Rolls-Royce! I'm sure MJ records still sell and if he still owns the Beatles publishing rights he's got some serious cash coming in.
He may be a twisted pedophile, but he's made some awesome purchases. I would totally have the Edward Scissorhands gloves if I had the money. And the video game collection, I know we all agree on that.

Exactly. If you look at his demeanor over the past couple years, it's pretty apparent that he's just outgrown that lifestyle.

Merged with the one that had sprouted up in classic gaming. I'm not sure where this one should be exactly.... suggestions people?

Do you think "Michael Jackson used to own this machine!" will be a big selling point for any of this stuff in the future?

True. How could he possibly have time to play video games when he's so busy sleeping with children?
Do you think "Michael Jackson used to own this machine!" will be a big selling point for any of this stuff in the future?
If anything, I think it'd be an anti-selling point. Who would want to use a controller or joystick after Michael Jackson touched it? I hope all of this stuff is sterilized before it's sold.

I saw this a while back.. I wouldn't mind having one of those Coin arcade machines myself. The one where the coins push the other coins off the shelves.

Y'know, a guy I take classes with said exactly the same thing.
Anyway, I think the answer is yes - if we're talking about the Pac-Man or something that doesn't have a whole lot of value to begin with.
Looking through the Daily Mail section of the catalog, however, I find myself agreeing with this sentiment:
Will give you £5 for the lot! What a load of rubbish.

Well... If the person interested in the stuff was a pedophile... Then maybe it would be a big selling point then.

Auction has officially been cancelled as of this afternoon. Julien's has agreed to return all 1400 of the items. You can still pay $20 to see the "exhibition" at the auction house for the next ten days with some portion going to charity, but unfortunately, we may never know what some of those machines would have gone for.

(I'm sure a lot of it might very well have some sort of sentimental value on some level or another, but I'm equally sure that a lot of it was just sitting around collecting dust.)

If he's thinking about getting rid of ANYTHING, he needs to donate it to the state. Neverland Public Park would be a wonderful gesture, possibly helping to repair his image, however slightly. Even if they don't want to pay to run it all, it's still land...
I've gotta say, however, that I'd expect a higher estimate on those console kiosks. If they're all in good working order and complete, they've gotta be over $150.
I feel bad for the guy. Even if all the allegations are fabricated (that's a stretch...), he still brought his current image on himself with all the Peter Pan crap and his wimpy/feminine appearance in the 90s. If he can still sing, he needs to use this "hiding" period to grow some balls, record a new album, and get his act together. Dance and dance-pop music are making a comeback, and a "non-creepy" Jackson could be popular again, provided he can reinvent himself.
