I just noticed a shop here in Buffalo NY, called Oogie Games. Is this just local, or has anyone gone there? I still need to check it out for myself. I guess it has stuff from NES to 360...

That's the one on Delaware, right? I've been in there a few times as it's right around the corner from my apartment. Honestly it's really nothing special but I'd rather support them than the huge chain shops.

Hey guys. This store is AWFULLLLL.

They overprice everything, store is junk. There is a guy literally 100 yards away on Elmwood that has every system, games for everything and charges a fair price.

And I dont wanna give anything away but my friend and I might be opening a store on Eggert/Maple area. Stay tuned!

Thats your Buffalo gamer report ha Go sabres.

Yeah, it is. I guess it can't hurt to check them out.

Also, GO SABRES!!!

PS: Anyone remember "Gamestation" on Delaware? It was down around where the clothes shop "Marshalls" is. Whatever happened to them.

If you simply take a right on Kenmore Ave off Delaware (assuming your going towards Ken Ave from Oogies). Then take a right on Elmwood. Youll see a Quick Mart, Red sign on your left not too far down. Right next to it is a brick building. The Guy has a white sign outside that says VIDEO GAMES AND CARDS. He doesnt have a real sign.

Hes been there for 5 years. Awesome guy, will give you great prices on rare stuff. His selection is pretty large and 1000x better than Oogies. The guy will also haggle to get a deal and he as every system. Ive bought jaguar and 3do games there before.

If you go tell him Derek sent you :)

I should note his hours are 1230-630 tue-sat (randomly hes open past 630 and on mondays, if the white sign is outside, your good)

You wouldn't happen by chance have an address to this location so I can add it to said map that I have to remind all of you about?

2594 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY, United States

If you are looking on Google Streetview (for people that want to go). Its the building where the guy is parked in front of with the Red SUV Truck.

Hey, you should def stop by Oogie Games. I was actually refered to them from a Gamestop employee. They are the only place in town where you can get your ps3 repaired. I took my ps3 and my psp in for repair and it was back to me the same day. They have a large variety of older and newer systems. They have systems from Nintendo Nes all the way through to the PS3. Their prices are pretty competetive with gamestop and i am pretty sure they guarantee to beat them on trade-ins and are willing to deal. I have been there many times and am a huge fan. I found some pretty rare games like marvel vs capcom 2, Suikoden 1 & 2, and even tons of nes, dreamcast and sega master games. I think they even had a 3do when i was there the other day. Its also pretty clean for a gamestore that has all the older games...I have been in some places that have all the retro games and they smell like an arm pit and the guy behind the counter looks like a child molester!!! haahaha...but seriously, its a good game store, def stop in an check it out. There are not too many local guys around buffalo.

Really dude, you are sending this poor guy to that shithole with no name on elmwood?!?!? You can not even consider that a video game store. It is more like some fat guy having a garage sale while eating his lunch and dripping mayo all over his games. His signs are hand written by a 4 year old with crayons. You are better off going to the walden super flea. Sorry xderekrx, not really feeling your promotion for the gamestore on elmwood!

How in the WORLD can you suggest Ooogies over the No Name guy on Elmwood?

You must not care about the actual selection/price

Im just going from a collector stand point here and a fan of game variety and prices.

OOOGIES is AWFUL. He has a handful of NES games and the 2-3 rare games he has are WAAYY overpriced. Hes gone into the back to look up prices on ebay for stuff while I was there. Its so annoying. He has no stock at all.

ELMWOOD no name guy has everything. He has every system even Jag, 32x, 3do, lots of saturn. Anything you can think of. But he also doesnt know how to use the internet so you can grab rare stuff left and right. Got Bust A groove 2 PS2 mint for 5. Lots of other good stuff over the years.

So Oogies vs. Elmwood Games? Its not even close and I dont know how you can even say that. Yes Elmwood is a big guy with crappy location and Oogies is a little nicer inside but its night and day if you actual want Games and selection and price.

The best way I can compare it is the last 5 times Ive gone to Oogies Ive bought 2 items. The last 5 times Ive gone to Elmwood Ive bought upwards of 20-25 items. Boxed saturn, rare N64 and ps1. Lots of boxed genesis. You goto Oogles and you find 10 N64 games, all insanely overpriced, 20 Ps1 games all overpriced and 1000 snes/nes commons.

You win derek, you know all! We should all listen to your biased opinion since you are one fat daves top friends on myspace. He does have some good prices because he doesnt have a clue how to price his games. Some are low and others are way high because he just makes prices up. FYI, I will never let my kids in his store alone. Listen to duked2k and visit both..and make an opinion for yourself.

SAJ im not trying to make this a personal attack or whos better thing. Both serve a purpose to sell old games and more of these stores the better.

Im just being honest. I comb both stores over frequently. And youre making it sound like you prefer Ooogie based on appearance.

But to say because you think that Dave is a slob, or dangerous versus Ooogies slightly friendlier atmosphere. It has nothing to do with the games!! People want games here, not a place to hang out

Ill be honest I think Daves place is a hole. Its cold, its dirty, its dingy. But I got over it when I started finding great stuff.

Oogies place is much more inviting without question but when it gets down to getting stuff at a good price its tough. He does have rare items but its always Ebay or higher. for example if you want Network Adapter Ps2 from Oogie youll pay 40, youll probably pay 15 from Dave. Marvel Capcom probably 50 from dave, 70 from Oogie. Oogies prices are also set in stone, while Dave will take huge chunks off if you buy a lot of stuff.

But hey I say check out both for sure. Why not. But lets not discount Daves place because its scary :)

As for MySpace, the reason I found Daves store was by getting the invite on there or like most, youd never find the damn place.

There really doesnt seem to be alot of retro game stores in Buffalo at all which is kinda upsetting. Those 2 guys are like right next to each other. Then theres Phoenix in the mall, but after that Id like to find some more. I heard there is one going up in Transit.

Im just saying, willing to pay a little more for my games to have them clean and in good condition. Bought stuff from elmwood twice that didnt work, and he wouldnt take them back. I dont respect someone who doesnt stand behind his merchandise.

With the amount he spams Craigslist i wouldn't be surprised if his drones were on here.

I havent had that experience yet so I guess I cant relate. The first so many times I went in I guess I was a bit put off. Im a bit of a Saturn nut and hes the best in the area for selection.

I like to sell stuff on Ebay admittedly. But usually Ill sell so I can buy other games I want. Hes sold me broken DSs for like 20$ that people buy on ebay for 80$ and fix whatever screen issue it had.

If we are talking about other Game stores outside of these 2 in the area, its tuff. Flea Market has a few guys but nothing major. Ive been to Rochester and they have a chain place called Game Craze. Has 5-6 locations and they have a massive selection of old games and stuff. I wish we had something like that in Buffalo but there are so few retro shops as it is.

Speaking of Gamestop, its funny, the Canadian Gamestops still sell PS1, DC, N64, Saturn etc games. Its actually kinda cool.
