View Full Version : Solve this level for me, and I'll Pay-Pal you $10!!!

*If someone could sticky this for me, it would be awesome.*

OK, here's the deal... I've been stuck on this level for the Japaense Adventures of Lolo 4 for ages now, and I am throwing in the towel. I honest to god have no idea how to do it, and I'm willing to pay to figure it out.

So here's the scoop: If you can solve the puzzle, I will Pay-Pal you $10.

First off, you'll need the game. You can download the ROM for it at the link below.

http://www.romnation.net/dl/nes/Eggerland+-+Meikyuu+no+Fukkatsu+%28J%29/zip

Then you need to make your way to the room that I'm stuck in. On the map screen, it's on the 3rd row from the bottom, 4th from the right. You'll know which room it is because in the invetory on the side, in the lower right hand corner there is a frame with a question mark above it.

That's all I have to say... beat that level, tell me (in detail) how you did it so that I too can beat it, and you get $10. It's that simple.

Ooh! A challenge! (I didn't even know there was an Adventures of Lolo 4.)

How do you get past the room 4th from the bottom 5th from the right?

Ding Ding! I got it!

Collect the heart in the upper right corner.
Collect the two hearts at the bottom.
Push the middle box up three and a half spaces.
*Shoot the Snakey twice.
*Push the box on the right up two spaces before the snake reappears.
Collect the right heart on the top row. (Remember to walk on the right side of the isolated rock in the upper right.)
Go back and shoot the left skull once. Push it up next to the Medusa.
Push the box on the left (near the chest) up against the skull.
Push the right box up against the side of the Medusa on the right.
Move up towads the last heart, shooting the skull as you do so.
Go grab the key.

*This is something described in detail in later Lolo games.

I hope I'm referring to the correct room here. It's the one with the locked door, right?

Incidently, I'm not so sure this is Lolo 4. It's far less advanced than Lolo 3, which I think came out well after 1988.

@Jorpho: I think you solved the wrong room. In the room I'm stuck in there are no medusas. There are two dragons, two skulls, NO shots, no Snakys, eight heart frames, and a little question mark above a heart frame in the bottom right hand corner.

The thing is, the room is impossible to beat under normal circumstances. However, in the invetory on the side (not part of the puzzle, but the stats I guess you call it) there is a frame that has a question mark above it. It's figuring out how to use that thing that has me stumped.

I might have said the wrong room on the map screen. Just keep going until you see a room like the one I discribed... you'll know it when you see it.

Yeah Charlie, I'm in the room you're talking about and I'm stuck too. There is no way to move the dragons to get to the chest. I don't know how you're supposed to get passed it. The date for the first Lolo game is 1988, 2nd game is 1989, and the 3rd game is 1991. Some of the puzzles are the same as in the first game. I don't see how it could be the 4th game either.

I think the translation for the game means "Eggland (Lolo) Collection" or something similar. It is the last game of the series (not counting Lolo for the Gameboy, which wasn't released in North America).

BTW, to all you Lolo fans, the Japanese versions of Lolo 1, 2, and 3 are not at all same as the US versions. The puzzles are totally different and the game is much, much, much, much, much harder.

The offer still stands: $10 if you can beat the level. Although I'm having my doubts that anyone here will be able to do it without the instruction book and possibly the ability to read Japanese.

If I'm not mistaken, Eggerland Meikyuu no Fukkatsu translates to Eggerland Mystery Revival. (Eggerland Mystery, you may recall, is the title of the original MSX Lolo.)

Damn, you're good.

Hey, can you tell me the name of this Japanese N64 game I have... I think (think) it's called Denryuu Iralra Bou. Someone told me they think it means the Intense Maze or something like that.

Once the Fantasy Zone project is done, we should do one of the Adventures of Lolo series. One of the most underrated series ever.

That would be Irritating Maze. I'll try out the level on Lolo and see if I can figure it out...

JWPce is a wonderful thing...

Anyway, this does indeed seem to be something that requires an instruction book more than anything else. I gather you've already tried progressing as far as possible in the other direction?

Yep, myself and my mother (she owns the actual cart, I'm playing on NesterDC) have been stuck on this level for about two months now. My mom is a Lolo fanatic. She noted that one of the Famicom Disk Lolo's she has features the same kind of unsolvable puzzles with the question mark.

OK, the search continues... I want to thank you all for helping... goddamnit, one of us will get it! I will gladly hand over the money!

And yeah, we have been to every room that is accessable before the evil room of doom that is causing a Loloriffic Traffic Jam here at the DP board.

By the way, I found this page (http://www.hallab.co.jp/corporate/works/fc/) on Hal Laboratory's website. It seems to have all of Hal's Famicom releases, impying that Lolo 3 was never released in Japan and that Eggerland Meikyuu no Fukkatsu (the one near the bottom) came out before the first Adventures of Lolo. (Would that make it Adventures of Lolo Zero?)

No useful gameplay information, unfortunately. I have, however, located what seems to be a level select password at this page (http://www.ic-net.or.jp/home/t-sampei/u/fc/egalandmeikyu.htm). Specifically, if you enter
ki i so u sa su ki na to ko
i ku ki no u mi se na sa i
on the password screen, a little tune plays. Then when you start the game, you can access the map immediately (it also has the letters "GSX" written above it). In theory, you can move to any room you want at this point, but it doesn't seem to work.

Oh, wait, I get it now. You have to hold Select in order to move to a different room. All it comes down to now is finding a similar problem that _can_ be solved!

For instance, some other levels also have things below the question mark:
-Third row from the top and sixth column from the right: Don Medusa
-Fifth room from the right in the top row: Leeper
-Fourth room from the bottom in the second column: Leeper
-Fifth room from the left in the top row: Gol
-Seventh room from the left and fourth room from the bottom: Heart (!)
-Fourth room from the top and third column from the left: Treasure chest
-Lower left corner: Rocky
Naturally, all of these levels are just as Completely Unsolvable as the one in question.

But Here's the Thing! In the room in the lower-left corner, if you can get all four Rockies to line up in a column, all the water turns to desert, and the level can be solved! Clearly, strange things are afoot here.

I'VE GOT IT!

All you have to do is fill up every square of the border with frames! All the enemies turn into eggs! You can push them out of the way and get to the chest!

In the vertical row of frames, push the top and bottom ones to the left.
Push the middle one up.
Collect the hearts.
Push the bottom frame to the right and up next to the two other frames.
Push the frame above the right skull to the right and down into the corner.
Collect the heart above the right skull.
Push the frame above the left skull to the right and down above the other frame.
Push the leftmost frame in the middle left and down and to the left again, placing it right in front of the entrance.
Collect the heat above the left skull
Collect the upper left heart in the remaining formation. Push the frame below it down and to the right, above the other two frames in the corner.
Collect the lower heart. Push the frame below it down and to the right, into the space above the other three frames.
As soon as it is in place, the enemies will turn into eggs. Quickly collect the last frame. Push the upper egg to the right one space; push the other egg below it all the way up.
You should have just enough time to get past and collect the treasure chest.

THANK YOU! Thank you very much!

Nice Job!

I have NO patience for games like that. Plus I'm not particularly bright. I'm pretty sure I just stared at the first screeen of the first Lolo for awhile, wiped the drool off of my chin a few minutes later and plugged in something completely mindless.

Jorpho is the winner and officially becomes the smartest person in the history of the DP board (you should change your title to that, Jorpho).

OK, PM me the e-mail addy if you have a Pay-Pal account. Alternately, I can donate $10 to the DP board in your name. It's up to you. Just PM me.

And really, thanks a ton. You really are awesome.

LOL, now get your ass cracking on the meaning of life. You're too damn smart to waste on Lolo.

Oh, what the heck. I'll change it for a little while. ;)

It is immensely satisfying to systematically solve the apparently impossible. I haven't felt so perky for a long time.

...Of course, you realize that those other six levels I mentioned are going to be even more of a headache. (Can you imagine how difficult it will be to get Leepers into a specific formation, especially when you have no idea what that formation is?) But, it Can be Done!

PM sent.
