Hey Im moving to Brooklyn in a couple months. Of course I have no car. Is it impossable to get to the Digital Press store by public transportation? Also are there any good classic video game stores in New York City? Ive been to one years ago on/around St. Marks place in Manhatten. That was cool. Any others?
Thanks

I don't know where in Brooklyn you'll be moving to, but yes, you should be able to get to DP by public transportation:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=brooklyn,+ny&daddr=387+Piaget+Ave,+clifton,+nj&hl=en&geocode=&mra=cc&dirflg=r&sll=40.777245,-74.07278&sspn=0.40505,0.892639&ie=UTF8&z=11&start=0

There are three different public transportation options in that link. Keep in mind, they'll vary once you type in a specific address in Brooklyn.

Dont know. My wife got a transfer and were gonna look for places next month. Actually she will, I got to stay in SF and work and take care of the cats. Were thinking Brooklyn cause its closer to Manhatten but hopfully a bit cheaper. But who knows, maybe shell find a good place in Manhatten, Queens or Jersey. But right now were gonna look first in Brooklyn. Were 2 months out from moving so theres time. Im excited to explore such a big city. SF is so small and theres actually not lots going on in terms of things Im into.

Hey, welcome to the hood. I am currently in Brooklyn and can tell you it is not that hard to go to the DP store by train and bus--it's pretty cut and dry. Drop me a line via PM and let me know if you need directions, or just some pointers on the best place to get a bite or some games around here. Welcome to the 'hood, man!

Within the last six weeks, I got to see Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and The Man with the Golden Gun in the theater. In April, I'm going to see A Hard Day's Night in the theater. I doubt I would've gotten to do that outside of the NYC area. :)

Wow, thanks guys for all the help. Ill hit you guys up when I get there for more info. SF does have cool midnight movies and used to have a decent retro arcade. But like so many venues for small concerts, the arcade is gone and forget any retro game stores. The best we got is Gamestop. There are a couple of cool toy stores here and there but not much. There used to be awsome record stores but they are all gone, except Amoeba. Great giant recordstore but put all the other ones out of business. Anyway thanks again.
I always wanted to go to something like NAVA, but couldnt find anything like it in San Francisco.
Thanks
Jim

I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Man with the Golden Gun (and some other old movies) at the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre in Jersey City, NJ (directly across the street from the Journal Square PATH station):

The Loew's Jersey Theatre is a restored theater from 1929, including the same model of Wonder Morton Organ that was originally there. It's amazing hearing someone control what's basically an entire orchestra, in stereo, using an 80 year old organ. It's all electromechanical...no MIDI samples. The various instruments are actually built into the left and right walls of the theater. :)

Tickets are usually $6 each. I posted some photos from the last time I was there:

I saw Temple of Doom and will be seeing A Hard Day's Night at Landmark's Sunshine Cinema in Manhattan:

Sunshine Cinema
143 East Houston St.
New York, NY 10002

Tickets to this theater are typical Manhattan price: $12.50 each.

Yeah, actually in SF, theres the Castro Theatre. Its unreal. Theres an organ that comes up from underground, sounds very close to what your talking about. Shows some great movies. Absolutly classic movie house. If you ever go to SF for whatever reason check it out. But I cant wait to see the theatre your talking about. Thanks.

That is truely awesome. I will take a ride down to the Jersey City location soon. Any way I can get a schedule of what is playing there, and the times? Do they have a site page?

Edit: Whoops, I see you posted their site. I will check it out now. :)
