along with a 2nd Wiimote & nunchuk, 2 Wii wheels, and the following games:

Classic British Motor Racing
Godzilla: Unleashed
Indianapolis 500 Legends
Mushroom Men
NASCAR Kart Racing
Nights: Journey of Dreams
Shaun White Snowboarding
Speed Racer

I also got Wii Fit, so I can play Shaun White Snowboarding with the balance board... so I currently own 10 Wii games, including Wii Sports... AWESOME!

so I got half of the Wii games on my wishlist so far... the rest of them are:

Blast Works
Endless Ocean
Castlevania: Judgement
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Kororinpa: Marble Mania
Mercury Meltdown Revolution
Monkey King
Ninjabread Man
Ocean Commander
Soul Calibur Legends

my parents delivered all the Wii stuff when they delivered my new 24" HD LCD monitor to play it on... hopefully the VGA converter box I got will work with it

Congrats! That's a nice start!

My top 3:
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

For lesser-known/budget titles, lately I've really enjoyed Dragon Quest Swords - it's like a light gun game only with sword swinging, and some light RPG elements. I also really enjoyed Soul Caliber Legends, though I can understand why some people didn't like it. Godfather: Blackhand Edition has the best motion controls of any Wii game - it's pretty well done and a nice surprise.

I thought Blast Works was complete garbage - be careful with that one.

Congrats on finally getting the best current generation console. Also, good for you for getting Mushroom Men, it's a underated gem. On your wish list you must get Blast Works and Geometry Wars.

2 wheels and no Mario Kart??? What's up with that? I do hope you enjoy your new system, congrats!

I thought about getting Mario Kart with a wheel, so I'd have 2 wheels, but that would've been another $50 instead of only $15... and I only got as many games as I did cause most of them were only $20 apiece, and the few that were more than that were all on sale... otherwise I wouldn't have gotten Wii Fit as part of my starter pack... I still can't believe I even got as much stuff as I did... that's an awful lot of expensive stuff to get all at one time, and it wasn't even part of my Christmas or my birthday... but they bought new 32" LCD HD TV's for themselves and my sister, and since I only wanted a new HD monitor that cost half as much as what one of those new TV's would've cost, they got me all the Wii stuff I wanted, to make up for the difference in cost

I won't be able to check out all my new stuff for a few more weeks though... I'm in Lake Charles, LA for Mardi Gras now, and I won't be returning home until St. Patrick's Day... so all that stuff is just sitting in my apartment, waiting for me to get back home and enjoy it... but it will be one hell of a homecoming! and I may be able to get the rest of the games on my wishlist by the time I get back, or soon after... I have some financial benefits on the way soon, so I won't have to wait for all those other games very long... then I can just keep up with whatever new releases I want as they come out, as I've been doing with PC games... it's alot nicer when you don't have to do that while you're trying to catch up on old releases at the same time as well

Wait a sec.

Didn't you write to Midway a few weeks ago demanding they release Mortal Kombat vs DC for a console (the Wii) that you didn't even own at the time.

Classic stuff :)

why is that? besides the fact that it's a racing game... any other reason?

well my parents got a Wii for themselves long before they got one for me, so I started buying games for it to play when I visit them... and this wouldn't be the first time that I bought games for a system I didn't own yet... I started buying Genesis games before I actually owned one too... as I've done with most of the systems I collect for... I prefer having several games to play when I get a new console, instead of just having whatever the pack-in is

and I didn't demand that Midway do anything... I asked them why they didn't make MK vs DC for the Wii or the PC... but rather than answer my question, they just gave me that much more reason not to buy their games anymore... and to wonder why I ever bought any of their games... so everyone here can think what they want of me... I'm still not gonna buy an XBOX360 or a PS3 just so I can play MK vs DC or some other game exclusive to those systems

edited my wishlist... I decided I wanna get Ninjabread Man and save Super Monkey Ball for later, when I plan to stock up on all the Sega games so far... so my next round of purchases after I complete my current wishlist will be:

Alien Syndrome
Sonic and the Black Knight
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
Sonic Unleashed
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

then I'll see about grabbing up all the Nintendo franchise games, and after that I'll work on getting whatever else I decide I want... prolly some more racing games, a few flying games, and some stuff from various other genres

It's one of the best racers on the system.

I guess I'll have to check it out then

Welcome to the journey of the shovelware!

indeed, especially in regards to racing games... it seems that most of the racers on the Wii are budget titles of poor quality, but I do enjoy collecting cheap racing games for the PC, so I'll prolly go for most of them on the Wii as well... I have noticed quite a few that I don't think I'll ever bother wasting my money on though, just so I can say I own all the racers on the Wii... it was a nice goal until I realized just how many crappy racers are on the Wii!

I know... it's hard for me to believe too... I guess they feel compelled to help stimulate the economy buy buying a shitload of expensive electronics for us... or they just want to see us enjoying some of our inheritance while they're still around to see us enjoy it... either way, I'm not complaining

I'm visiting my parents again, and they got me the following games:

Ferrari Challenge
Monkey King
Ocean Commander
WWII Aces

so I own a total of 14 Wii games now... about half of what I want

Nice bro, I feel ya.

The Wii has some games I really want like Mario Kart and a few shooters, cause a friend of mine has one and the controls are interesting for sure, Mario Kart is heavenly with Nunchuk and Remote configuration.

Only reason I don't own a Wii yet is cause the hardware itself is lacking imo and a couple of key franchises I was looking forward to didn't quite hit the mark. I do like it plays Gamecube games though, that's a plus.

The system itself is worth owning for Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. alone, unfortunately I haven't justified paying full price for one yet myself as i'm enjoy the PS3 quite well.

for real... I guess they wanted me to have some games of my own to play while I'm here, instead of just their games... they don't have much that really interests me... they have all 3 bowling games, cause they're both big bowling nuts, my dad has a hunting game, a fishing game, and a football game, and my mom has The Price Is Right... I played that with her today, it was pretty cool... alot more fun than I expected... I may have to get a copy of it for myself sometime, so I'll have a decent multiplayer game for parties, but I'm not paying $40 to buy a copy of it for myself... it was bad enough having to pay that much for it to get it for my mom for Christmas, but she loves it, so it's cool... and I sure can't complain about getting all the games I got as gifts!

Congrats!

And at the same time I have to say that judging from the list of your games so far, it seems like you are consciously avoiding the system's best games :)

I thought I got quite a few of the best games... so what's supposed to be better than what I have so far? I'm really not a big Mario fan, so that leaves out most of those games, and I'm not really a big Zelda fan either... I might get the Metroid Prime games, but I'm waiting for the 1 & 2 compilation to come out before I get 3, cause if I get those I wanna play them all in order... price has been the biggest factor in my decisions though... otherwise, I'd have all the Sonic games already, and the rest of the best franchises also

Unfortunately they are always either A, buried behind the shovelware or B, sold out.

tell me about it... I'd have alot more games and alot more badass games if driving all over town to find them produced better results... I wish my mom wasn't so adverse to shopping online... then I'd prolly have everything that I want, but she hates to use a credit card at all, and she won't do it online... she won't just give me a bunch of cash and let me deposit it in my bank so I can use my debit card either... so I've only been able to get what she could find for me and what I could find in a store... which should be any game I wanted, here in the 4th largest city in America, but nobody stocks every game available for the Wii... not even Fry's... all anyone has is mostly tons of the crap that only kids and casual gamers would care about... or they sold out of it and never restocked it cause they marked it down to practically nothing to get rid of it... I did get a couple good deals on markdowns, but most were sold out by the time I got to the store, even though their ads were still valid, and no rainchecks, so no luck... I still got most of what I wanted the worst though, so I think I did pretty good... and you can't beat FREE! now if I could just get that financial windfall that I was expecting before I leave, I could go buy alot more of the games I want too... I've found a ton of the more expensive games I want here, but my mom won't buy me a bunch of expensive games, so I have to wait till I have my own money for those... I'm lucky she got me the few expensive ones that she found on sale

Nice bro, I feel ya.

I'm gonna be very busy checking out all my loot when I get back home... and shopping for more, when the money I've been expecting finally comes in... I hope I don't have as much trouble finding all the games I want in DFW, but it'll prolly be even worse trying to find them all there... so I'll prolly have to sacrifice a few of my wants to pay for shipping & handling on everything I'm gonna have to order from Amazon... but if I can get good deals on all the prices by buying from marketplace sellers, I may be able to get everything for about the same as what it would cost me if I could find it all in a store... I sure hope so... I'm anxious to get everything on my wishlist now, so I can just keep up with new releases as they come out... it looks like there's gonna be even more worth getting in 2009 than there was in 2008, so I wanna be prepared for any massive onslaughts of new Wii games that might occur... not that most of it would be worth getting, but it looks to me like Nintendo is going more for quality now, since they have quantity very well established

Iron Draggon
03-12-2009, 03:22 PM
well my parents got me 2 more games while we were out shopping today, but I don't think they're gonna buy me anymore while I'm here now... we haven't been able to find any of the other cheap games on my wishlist, and I think they've already bought me all the expensive ones they're gonna buy me now

added the following:

Alien Syndrome
Counter Force

next stop, Amazon!

hopefully that money I'm expecting will come in before I leave, or soon after I get back home to Fort Worth... if it does, I should be able to get all the rest of the games on my wishlist, or at least most of them... not too many that I haven't been able to find in stores left now... just a few of the older titles

Iron Draggon
03-13-2009, 05:31 PM

First off, shouldn't this whole thread be in the "Finds" forum?

Secondly, i'm not going to fault anyone if their parents buy them cool stuff, but creating a thread just to brag about the thousands of dollars in stuff they're buying you is a pretty dickish move.

His posts don't bug me, I didn't even recognize the username - I just think it's weird.

To op - how old are you? My parents stopped buying me fun stuff when I was about 13. I was old enough at that point to buy things myself (except necessities of course, they still bought those!). And of course I'd still get gifts for holidays, but nothing like that!

You don't want to know how many odd jobs I used to do to buy AD&D 2nd edition books. Lawn cutting, snow shovelling, garbage cleanup, painting stuff, whatever people living around me needed done. I think I appreciated the stuff I bought more because of it too.

well it sounds like a bunch of y'all are just jealous to me... so my parents bought me a Wii and a bunch of games to go with it, and that's supposed to make me retarded? if that's the case, there's a bunch of other retards on these boards... sorry, but it's not my fault that your parents don't love y'all enough to buy y'all a Wii and a bunch of games for it too, just because you wanted one and they wanted to get one for you... so don't blame me for it

FYI, I think my parents were gonna do all this for me for Christmas, but they weren't able to find any Wii's anywhere when they were ready to buy one... so this is all just a bunch of belated Christmas gifts... and if bragging about what I got for Christmas is taboo, then there's a bunch of other people on these boards who've made similar threads who shouldn't have done it either

as for my age, what does that have to do with it? do you think it makes you retarded just because your wife bought you a bunch of gaming stuff for Christmas? I've seen lots of threads like that posted here before, and I never thought the recipents of those gifts were retarded because of it... I just thought it was nice that they had someone who loved them enough to do that for them... but if you think otherwise, I feel sorry for you... because it's pretty obvious that you don't have anyone to do stuff like that for you

now, at the risk of sounding like a retard, I bought myself the following today:

GT Pro Series with steering wheel
Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training

oh yeah, and I used money that my parents gave me to do it... so sue me

maybe if you were nicer people to be around, people would feel like doing more for you... my parents just bought me a new 24" HP LCD HD monitor for my computer too... and they didn't do it cause I'm such a big jerk either LOL

P.S.: if my posts here are supposed to be evidence of my alleged mental illness, I'm not the only one exposing himself here... I've seen lots of posts by some of you that make me question your mental health too... but I'm not so rude that I feel the need to make comments about it every time you post

it could be said that collecting video games is a mental illness in itself... especially if you collect sealed games without any intentions of ever opening them to play them... it's like collecting food without any intentions of ever cooking it and eating it... so be careful who you accuse of being mentally ill, and why you accuse them of it... someone could just as easily find something wrong with you and your collecting habits because of what you post too

now I'm in shock... I can't believe my parents just got me a new $400 monitor, $400 worth of new Wii hardware, and $400 worth of new Wii games... that's $1200 worth of new stuff! and all this in addition to Christmas, which started with a new $400 bicycle on Labor Day... well, the bike was $100 off, but they also got me $100 worth of bike equipent to customize and maintain it, as well as a new helmet to compliment it too... why am I so blessed now? I've got 20 Wii games now, and that's over half of the ones on my wishlist... so I don't have too much more catching up to do to be current with new releases as they come out... and I already got almost all of the latest new releases that I wanted... it's all simply unbelievable!

got it working on the new monitor, but not in HD... need a different converter box for that... a more expensive one... but the one I got will do for now... it has a DVR and a capture card to record stills and video from any source... so maybe I can use it to take screenshots of all my games sometime... and it was only $36 shipped from Hong Kong... not bad compared to an HD box... I haven't found any with all those capabilities yet... if I do, then I'll upgrade... I was concerned about the Wii in widescreen, but it has a widescreen setting... COOL! hopefully the rest of my consoles won't look too bad on it... when I was setting up the Wii, the screen didn't look stretched very much until I changed the setting to widescreen... not much difference after either

now as for all the smart alecs in this thread, you just WISH you were in my position now, so SCREW YOU... you'd be telling me the same if you were me!

think about it... I know it's amazing that my parents spent $1600 on me in the last 6 months, as well as an equal amount on my sister, and themselves... but all I can tell you is what they told me... they decided they wanted to see me and my sister enjoying some of our inheritance before they were gone... and they're both in the 70's, so who are we to argue with that? if that's what they wanna do, bad economy or not, it's their perogative to do so

I think that idea was determined from some of your past posts, it didnt have anyhthing to do w/ what your parents bought you, or even the fact they're buying you stuff.

& I'm not jealous, even if someone (or I myself) could spend $1600 on games I have nowhere near enough time to play them.

But yeah, people talking about how much stuff they got/have is generally frowned on. It's best to be discreet about all that.

I really would prefer to just let this thread die, but since you just have no ability to comprehend anything on an adult level, let me put this in terms you might be able to understand. Nobody here is jealous of you and I think a better analysis of the reaction a lot of us have for you is pity. You seem to have no ability to deal with issues or concepts that anyone over the age of about 18 should have no trouble dealing with. That really is unfortunate, especially if you really are 41 years old.

When people reach a certain age, there is an expectation that they have a good job, maybe own or rent a house, maybe have a family and most importantly, have the ability to break away from the pattern of being dependent on their parents for money and gifts. Do adults still give and receive gifts? Sure they do. But what adults don't do is brag and gloat about the fact that their elderly parents are buying them video games and electronics and more importantly, they don't keep posting the exact dollar amounts as if it matters.

A lot of us make a good living and spend a lot of money on video games and you know what, we don't run onto this board and post all about it every single time. It's not that big of a deal and frankly, nobody cares that your parents spent money on you. People just don't post those kinds of things here or anywhere for that matter. That's the kind of thing that second graders talk about, not grown adults. What they do post is finds in the wild that are really exciting or unique finds or things that aren't just brags about being handed expensive gifts. If you really want to post something interesting, why don't you post about all the nice things you are doing to thank your parents or about how you have told your parents that they don't have to buy you anything else since they have already been so generous. Better yet, why don't you show some class and sophistication and stop adding to this post and just take a break from posting on this board until you work through the issues with your therapist that are preventing you from being a productive adult. Maybe while you're at it, you could enroll in college and get an education so you can actually get a job that makes a few hundred dollars in video games and gifts not seem like that big of a deal.

Maybe while you're at it, you could enroll in college and get an education so you can actually get a job that makes a few hundred dollars in video games and gifts not seem like that big of a deal.

you know what, it's real easy to sit on your high horse and judge people on a message board based on what you think you know about them from whatever they post... I've seen tons of posts on these boards from most of you over the years, and you can't tell me that no one else here has ever excitedly posted about whatever games and/or systems they got, whether they were gifts or not... how many threads like this were posted when the Wii first came out? tons of 'em... but no one was pissing on anyone else's party then because the Wii was new to everybody... but now just because I'm a few years late to the party, some of you feel compelled to piss on my party and try to make me feel like there's something wrong with me for wanting to share my excitement over my latest new system and games... if that's what you call pity, you have a real fucked up way of empathizing with people... so maybe you should discuss that with YOUR therapist... if my posts bother so many of you so much, then why do you feel so compelled to keep on reading them and responding to them? so you can show all your buds what a big ass you are? sure, try and make me look like more of an ass than you are, go ahead... and then accuse me of being the one making an ass of myself... did it ever occur to you that maybe I just choose to ignore what I don't like, instead of following it around in every post it makes to stir it up some more?

it's been pointed out on these boards more than once that there's an "elite" group of trolls here who do exactly what some of you are doing in this thread and others that I've posted in... you go from Anthony1 to me to whoever else you choose to pick on and pick at because you think you're so much better than they are... and it's usually the guys who have more than you do... but it's not jealousy, no it's just a sick desire to piss on other people's parties, because you can't even throw a party of your own without someone else to piss on... see someone like me throwing a party for himself, and it's on

you wanna give me so much advice and analyze me so much, but you sure as hell don't wanna follow your own advice or be analyzed by someone else... lest you be exposed for the fraud you are, just an internet troll with no life and nothing better to do than troll around accusing others of being the troll... so why not take some time of from these boards yourself, or better yet take time off from every thread I post in and leave me the hell alone... I have better things to do that amuse myself with you amusing yourself over how much worse off you think I am than you are, just because I have more than you do or whatever... you want me to grow up so much, why don't you grow up and just walk away from anything and everything that I post here?

no, that wouldn't be any fun for you, would it? no party to piss on bores you, because your own life is so boring nothing excites you but pissing on other people's parties, trying to piss them off so you can point even more fingers at them and divert everyone else's attention from what an asshole YOU are

it wasn't enough to get my thread moved to another forum, supposedly so you wouldn't have to look at it anymore, no you had to follow it to where it went... because YOU just can't walk away and leave well enough alone... I wonder how many more times you'll all post just to say how much you're supposedly over me and all my posts, instead of doing what anyone who's REALLY over me and all my posts would do and simply not read or reply

now for anyone who really is interested in my posts and what my latest additions to my Wii collection are, read on... today I got myself the following:

Castelvania Judgement
Soul Calibur Legends

eventually I'll post what I think about all the games that I got as I'm able to spend more time with them, but contrary to the apparent popular beliefs about me here, I do have a life and it's not what you think it is... the vast majority of my collection was purchased by me with my own money that I earned from my own job... so I'm not just the spoiled little rich brat some of you seem to think I am... far from it... I busted my ass to get all the games and systems that I have, so on the extremely rare occaisions that I get a bunch of cool new games and hardware as gifts, you're damn right I throw myself a party to celebrate it, and if that offends you, so much the better

I don't post to please you anymore than I post to offend you, but if you choose to think otherwise, that's your choice... I post to please myself and anyone else who finds what I have to say interesting or entertaining or whatever, just like everyone else on the net... so if that bothers you so damn much, perhaps you should consider retiring yourself from the net, not me... I don't have any sick needs to chase you down in every post you make, trying to get you banned so I don't have to chase you down anymore, just so I can point a bunch of fingers at you, because I'm not even half the troll that you are... if you really bother me, then I simply ignore you and your posts and let you irritate the fuck out of somebody else... I have a life off the net and off these boards, so I don't have to live here chasing you down in every post you make, just to bitch about how much your posts annoy me... I don't pity you and I don't envy you... you're as insignificant to me as a former rental with a disgusting unidentified residue on it that smells awful

as for everyone else, have a nice day... I hope you're enjoying whatever it is that you're playing and collecting as much as I'm enjoying all my new Wii stuff

now if you'll excuse me, I still have a ton of new Wii games to play with a bit more before I comment on them any further... I'm still enjoying my Christmas

I'm really confused.....Is this an EARLY x-mas or LATE x-mas gift???? Or is it some twisted form of the x-mas that just keeps giving?

Worst ending line in a Bond film ever.

Hey Draggon, I got an idea, I'm serious about this...why dont you review some of these Wii games you got, that can help out the rest of us who arent so lucky & have to buy them ourselves.

You can post the reviews here, or even start your own review page or something...first you can start w/ a Wii game called Ocean Commander (if you have it) seems scarce in my area (was told by Gamestop no GS in my STATE has it), looks like an underwater shooter I'd like to know more about, the cheapest I can find it for is $20 new.

Actually, I plan to do just that pretty soon. But not here in this thread! I can tell you that Ocean Commander is really cool, and easily found at most any Best Buy for $20. Ditto for Monkey King. I highly recommend both games to any SHMUP fan. Blast Works & Geometry Wars are both really cool ones too.

I can also tell you that I fail to see what's supposed to be so bad about any of the games I've got so far. I think alot of people are missing the point of many Wii games, because they're expecting it to look and act like another system. Yes, it's an XBOX/PS2/Gamecube with sci-fi controllers and no, it's not a 360/PS3! We get it already, so why the hell don't you? It's all for FUN!

Well my mom just gave me $5000 in books. (http://www.eastonpressbooks.com/leather/")

But then they're losing their house to bankruptcy and had to find a place to stash them. So I guess that's not much to brag about.

Yowza. That's very illegal stuff. I don't think I'd be posting that on the internet. Seriously, bankruptcy offences are pretty serious and can have either severe cost or penal consequences. You might want to give those books back to her.

Yeah... anyway they're my books. They were promised to me since I was little, just got them a little earlier than expected. I already had a small collection of my own editions, fantasy stuff like Lord of the Rings, The Belgariad, and Narnia. Time to find a bigger bookcase.

Congrats on all the books, Daria! I assume you must be a very avid reader, since you're so into RPG's. My sister would be jealous. She's very much a bookworm. Sorry the story behind why you got all the books isn't a better one.

As for my story, I just added the following to my collection:

Battle Rage
Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed
Emergency Heroes
Hot Wheels: Beat That
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
Rampage: Total Destruction

I know the two racers are more for kids than adults, but I wanted to get a couple more cheap racers, and I already have most of the ones worth getting. Actually I already have Beat That for the PC too, but I thought it would be cool to get it for the Wii as well, just for the motion controls.

I'm wondering what's up with Battle Rage though. Apparently it's only sold online! WalMart.com says it isn't sold in stores, and Best Buy doesn't even sell it online, which makes no sense at all to me. If it's only sold online, then why the heck isn't it a WiiWare game? Why bother making hard copies of a budget title, just to sell it online only? Is it supposed to be rare, or what?

I'm also wondering what's up with Mortal Kombat. Everyone who has it for sale now says it's rare and out of print. I lucked out and got it for cheap from a guy on ebay, but he said it was rare and out of print too. Is this true? I would expect it to be no more rare than any other MK game, and I sure as hell wouldn't expect it to be out of print already! It doesn't make any sense.
