View Full Version : Can anyone name this Genesis game?

I'm trying to remember what game this is. My friend rented it back in the day, probably within the first 2 years of the Genesis' life. It was a side-scrolling hack and slash with barbarians, much like Blades of Vengeance. It was overly violent for the time (I think it was pre-Mortal Kombat, or at least before the home console port) and I think you could dismember or decapitate enemies. I seem to remember it being an unlicensed title as well. The characters were huge on the screen, which made things look awkward. I think the main character might have looked kind of like Ax Battler from Golden Axe but with a huge head.

Sword of Sodan?

That looks like the game. But I wonder why I remember it being unlicensed?

Pretty quick man, thanks!

You're welcome. :)

The game was released by EA, that might be why it looked unlicensed.

Man, that's a game I'd be happy to forget. Easily among the worst games on Genesis.

Very true, I got a few copies of the game as a part of a big bundle(I still have them as nobody wants them). Usually I call the game "Sword of Sodomy", it's really that bad.

^ I'll give you 5 bucks shipped for it. I like bad games.

I'll have to look for them, I packed those games up in a big box with sports games and stored them someplace awhile ago. If I can find it I'll let you know, it's around here somewhere. That and I'll have to get a quote for shipping costs, usually it's expensive to ship anything from Canada to the US(I don't know why, it just seems that way).

I might be into buying a copy as well if you're looking to get rid of them. I know the game is horrible, but I want it for some reason. :D

This assessment of the game is 100% correct.

There was another game like that. It featured naked statues of fairies or something, and was indeed unlicensed IIR. It featured an old man as the main hero. Dammit I can't remember the name! :grrr: Didn't have huge characters like SOS though.

Edit: Stormlord

I also have that game, but Stormlord is actually licensed. I almost thought it could be that game, but I remembered the dismember/decapitate enemies part with Sword of Sodomy/Sodan. I didn't play that far into the game myself, but I read reviews of it which showed the violence. Stormlord is a bit better to play, though not much better.
