back in the early pre-sonic days of the genesis, my younger brother was at the university of cincinnati for some boy scout event, and on the same day, there was a sega genesis college tournament being held there. he had a t-shirt from the event, but the details (what games were played, was a special cart used, etc) are scarce and google brings up nothing...

does anyone around remember this event or have any details?

Sorry for the necrobump, but I was doing a date search of when this tournament occured, and figured I could at least supply info.

I was in the competition and went to the finals in Honolulu. At the university level, we played Afterburner 2 for the preliminary round, and I don't remember the other title that was used, and played Tommy Lasorta Baseball for the final round. All used actual carts.

At the finals, the first round was Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion, second round used Shadow Dancer (which was released that following week), and the final round used prototype carts of Joe Montana Football. All used physical carts.

Hope that answers your questions.
