This is probably in the realm of 3rd part controllers... anythign out there that favors the d-pad over the stick? Something that wold come in useful with games like Megaman Anniversary Colllection and Sonic Mega Collection.

And I'm not talking about one of those adaptors that lets you use a PS2 pad on Xbox.

Mega man anniversary can be very unforgiving while using the stick on the xbox controller. Playing mega man 2 or 1 on that reduces me to muttering incoherent psychobabble. Don't even get me started on trying to do slides with the stick. I too would love to know if there was a 3rd party controller providing an improved d-pad.

there is a mod u can do to the Xbox D pad that improves response and might help out alot with gameplay. I have a harder time with SF games VS other games like Megaman tho.

I only know of the Street Fighter Anniversary controllers, but they aren't very good.

They're also insanely expensive. $35-$50 online.

You obviously haven't seen what the Saturn PS2 pads go for. They make your "insanely expensive" pads look like a clearance sale.

I did see the Xbox controllers, used, on Amazon fairly cheap, but customer reviews indicate they're basically made of saltine crackers and have a habit of rbeaking.

I bought a Hori Gameboy Player controller for $50. I still think it was an outright unnecessary price for a contorller that retailed at $15.

I ordered an M Bison Xbox SF controller off Amazon, $10 plus shipping. No luck finding them in an actual store, even used. General concensus is it's not a very good fighting game pad, but I'm not playing fighting games, I'm playing 8-bit Megaman.

It was either buy it now, or watch as the price eventually triples and but it then.

I have two factory sealed ones left, a purple Dark Statlkers version and a white version. But I'm going to hold on to them.

For those curious, I flipped through the instruction manuals to both Megaman AC and Sonic Mega Collection +. MMAC uses the left thumbstick and d-pad interchangeably in games and menus. Sonic MC+ almost uses them interchangeably. Only time they're separate is while browsing the on-screen scans fo the game manuals(thumbstick for page turning), btu I don't need to view those anyway.

Similarly,I have the Hori GB Player controller. It works fine for Sonic Gems Collection.

The S controller has the best dpad of any xbox controller. Those nuby SF pads are trash. The diagonals are practically impossible to hit, especially up-right and down-right.

My thumb doesn't like reaching for the s controller d-pad. I don't need diagonals in an 8-bit NES game, either. I really couldn't care how they handle for fighting games, since I hate fighting games to begin with.
