Just got The Show for PS3 in Blockbuster. Last one they had. Great game so far, will go back to playing it shortly...

So is this why we are not seeing you in the Zap forums much?

Haha, nah I've been working 11 or 12 hour shifts all week. But I am off today and tomorrow, so I'll be posting here, there, and everywhere else. :)

Wow, no love for baseball? I thought these games were major releases and would generate lots of discussion.

Don't have a current Gen system, but the pictures/video of 2K9 were unbelievably realistic. Most so I have ever seen.

I guess you haven't seen this video of the fielders running through the stadium walls:

"The bugs in MLB 2K9 may be fixed with a patch -- perhaps even as early as this week -- but if you don't log online and download the update, then you are stuck with any bugs in the shipped product."

That's probably one of the reasons why the game has received a 6.8 out of 10 overall so far.

I went with the show to buy, and 2k9 to rent, simply because the demo was so so, I hope they patch and fix 2k9, but imo it is another letdown from 2k.... if anyone wants to play some baseball on either console shoot me a message I am always down for some baseball!!

I was considering getting 2K9 for my PS2 but am glad I checked in here first...now I probably won't get it. It is only $20, too...and at least they have someone on the cover now other than Derek Jeter...guess I'll just keep playing MLB Power Pros... :D

Is there anyone who's played a lot of The Show '08 who can comment on the differences? The one thing I hope they changed is when you're on the basepaths and it takes like 20 pitches for the guy at bat to strike out or walk.

I thought it could have also used better stat tracking (like my career average against certain pitchers), a batting practice mode, and fewer stupid RTTS tasks (like deducting points for not swinging on a hit and run when the ball is two feet off the plate).

Well, I broke down and bought MLB 09: The Show today. I've played 2 games...and lost both. But I'm enjoying it and hope I get better.

That's what happens when you play as the Pirates Rog, losing is just part of the game for you guys :). I'm looking forward to picking up The Show for the PS2 (still haven't updated to next gen yet). I played the hell out of the previous three. Go Twins!

I would buy The Show.

I love the graphics, the pitching and the fielding, but the batting leaves much to be desired. I'll pick it up on the cheap as I still think it's the best baseball game out there.

Man I just wish they would lossen up the batting, it's so stiff.

I have the Show '08 for PS2 and PSP and really enjoyed them but the above problem about waiting 10 or 15 minutes on base while the cpu is batting is annoying as heck. I mostly played Road to the Show mode so I make sure to steal 2nd base everytime I can and when I get really bored out there I steal a lot of 3rd base.

Looking forward to picking up the Show '09 soon.

I'm in somewhat the same boat as you shoes23. I have yet to upgrade to the next gen, but am quite interested in the newest Show title. I didn't buy 08, but I thoroughly enjoyed 06, and 07. Absolutely loved the Road to the Show mode. Is this new one basically just a roster update, or are there new options since 07 for the PS2 version?

Oh and go Twins too, big fan of them also. Hopefully they make The Show again for the PS2 next year so I can see the new stadium on this generation of systems.

The Twins can't be that great...the Pirates beat them yesterday! :D

I want to pick up The Show since I found out that it includes pretty much every AA and AAA team out there (go Redhawks!). Does anyone know if they have any minor league stadiums in there? I just love the Bricktown Ballpark :(

Speaking of baseball video games, are we going to get another edition of MLB Power Pros?
