Since I'm a poor cheap bastard, I'm always looking for a good deal. Xbox Live usually has some free Arcade games but I can't find a whole lot of them.
Anyone know any good ones that are free and worth the while? I have Dash of Destruction and Aegis Wing, other than that I don't know any others.
Suggestions?

Is Undertow still free, or does it cost money now? Not that it was a great game or anything...
Pity you missed out on the glory that was Yaris.

Undertow was only free for about 3 days as an applogy for the service being crappy for december '07.
There aren't too many full games that are free, but there are a lot of demos that are worth checking out, burnout paradise, shadowrun, and rainbow 6 have multiplayer demos as well.

Yeah, you're really not missing much of anything by not having the free games. Aegis wing and DoD were fun for 20 mins or so, and Yaris? *shudder*
You'd be better off going to Gamestop and paying the $1 for any of the BK games. :p

Agreed. If you are feeling cheap, go with demos. Many demos you will end up playing as long as some xbl games (cept for Braid and mm9, those games are awesome and worth the money)

Yaris is gone. It only had a 1 year window of release, that went away a few months ago. But agreed, you miss nothing.
Hell DoD only took 20 minutes to pull all 200g and complete the game as it is.

Totemball is free but you need a Vision camera to play it.

the old car adage would seem to (loosely) apply here:
you can get it fast and cheap, but it won't be reliable.
you can get it reliable and cheap, but it won't be fast.
you can get it fast and reliable, but it won't be cheap.
edit: and just to pre-empt the jokers out there, that is what she said.

I am also a cheap bastard but just couldn't help myself last week when they dropped Braid to 800 points. Now I've gone and purchased Doom as well, and BC Rearmed is in my near future. This XBLA stuff is addicting and there just aren't any good free games so I figured I might as well take the plunge.
I was looking through old threads yesterday and saw one about Carcossone (sp?) being free for a couple days in 2007. I wish they would do that again!

Hexic is free...as in you can't even buy it if you wanted to. It came with every 360 (automatically included on the hard drive) in the past. I have no idea if it does anymore. Anyway, it's one of the best puzzle games on XBLA, without question.

The last five or so HDD I've gotten haven't had Hexic on them, including the 120 gb I currently own (so it's not a space thing). I actually looked on the Marketplace last night to see if they have it as a free download, and it's not even available for purchase. I guess I miss out.

It used to be the case that you could call microsoft and they would give you a code to download hexic. I'm not sure if that's changed or not.

check out some of the XNA community games. They're cheap(not FREE, usually, but many are three bucks or less) and some are very good.

My 120 gb I bought from Best Buy last October had it preinstalled. It's ok but I'm only playing it for the achievements.

Seconded. Miner Dig Deep is a truly awesome game and it'll set you back a mere 200 points. As will the game I assisted with when it passes QA. ;)

Keep an eye out for Udderdude's (from Shmups Forums) XOP Black. Might be coming to Live.
