I think that's a Genesis logo along the top (that we can't see).
Nasty stuff regardless.

Soooo...if it is a Genesis logo, are they trying to market these to gamers? Wouldn't that be like marketing "made out of dead animals" clothes to PETA?

Perfect, my friend. That's EXACTLY the point.
Cauterize, where did you find that thing?

I want one of these that is made out of recycled Shaq-fu carts.
Anything to keep Shaq-fu out of the hands of a future generation. For if it gains power it could destroy all of mankind.

We can only hope that the pens are made from completely destroyed and irrepairable consoles.

Can you imagine how many just went in the trash instead of being recycled?

This pen was made out of sega neptune prototypes which were fully functional! That and its sister pen was made of heavy sixers!

The sadness caused by this simple image is enough to send even the most hardened of classics-collectors into a tear-filled frenzy of sorrow.
Really. Like.... this is the stuff .net-goth poetry is made of.

That's what I was thinking also. I know sometimes a system can be fixed, but sometimes that isn't an option, like if a system was dropped.
How do we even know it is real?
I was also thinking this. When I first looked at the picture I saw some printing that said the pen was made out of old consoles. Anybody can print. I see jokes printed on items all the time. It doesn't mean the joke is true.
Maybe I am being a pessimist about the legitimacy of the saying. Or maybe I am just being an optimist that they are not actually doing that to consoles.

Cool as hell. I want some. I think this is a great way to reuse dead systems... they have any in Nintendo Grey?
I hope I can get one made out of old Vectrex plastic.

Haha it's probably just a joke but we're all freaking out because that's something you don't joke about! :yipes:
But if it is true, it was probably made from common parts at a manufacturing plant that recycles. Someone do a cheek swab for this thing and get a DNA sample.

If you're going to make ink pens from the plastic of old video game stuff, then melt down all those damn Electronic Arts sports games for the Genesis. There's millions of those things clogging up second hand game stores and thrift shops all across the land. And there's not a single human being that will miss them (maybe the games programmers, at a stretch).

But they're made of such low quality plastic, the only worse kind I've seen were in pirate DVD cases.

How to solve that problem? Dig up all those unsold E.T. cartridges. A nearly endless supply of quality plastic they can mix in to their Madden/NHL cart plastic to strengthen it. If that's too much work, just melt down all those damn Combat and SMB/Duck Hunt cartridges out there.

Just to show that they are real. Looks like a largely European thing. As all the sites show prices to order in Euros / Pounds. I still think it's a nifty idea, and would love some...and as it seems like you can get custom printing. I would love to see some DP pens!

Why are people acting like this is a bad thing? I doubt the people who make these are using anything that was in good working condition prior to meltdown. It's not like they go to the thrift stores and flea markets and buy up all the good deals before anyone else can get them.
It's *great* that they're using old plastic consoles for other things.

If it was possible, would you recycle your video game collection into something else ? I wouldn't mind to turn all my spare/duplicate 2600 carts into a coffee table...

Yes. Thank you.
Sony themselves have said that they were doing things with PS2 casings via recycling, what if this was dead PS2 shells? Would we get anything other than a 'serves sony right for making such a defective console'? Maybe this is nothing but reclaimed Leapfrog Leappads or Vsmile units.
I'd personally love a few pens. Lord knows i've got enough games and gaming related stuff in my life. Maybe if I found out where these were made, we could give them out to our clients (since I work for an energy efficiency company and all).

coffee table why start there ever heard of combat carpet, I actually really like the idea of using them as a wall paper like a wall coated in pac man carts. Coffee tables are actually somewhat easy you just make a solid rectangle of carts or take like a big fishtank and proceed to fill it to the top lip then put a sheet of glass on it.

That would explain why there are mainly black pens, and no NES grey pens. They were all SMSs once. Don't know what the white ones could've been, though. DCs, maybe?
