I just woke up from taking a nap when I had a realization that my friend had a Gold Game with Dip Switches when I was little in Philadelphia. I remember distinctly going to his house and going through all his games, but we never really played that one cause it was "weird" and we were OBSESSED with Maniac Mansion and Bugs Bunny.
I just need verification that there are a bunch of other games that could have been and I did not let a NWC cart slip through my dirty child fingers. Not that I would have had the foresight back then to get the game off him.
I have been a collector/gamer for going on 8 years now and I never had this thought til now.
Let me know,
Mike
PS- You realize you also have problems when you awaken to thought like this haha

The Camerica games had switches on the back, but that's all I can think of(besides the rare gold NWC). Where were the dip switches?

I think the Camerica switches were a means to get around the lockout chip revision in later consoles.

Yeah the Camerica games are the only ones I know of. They were common enough and came in a shiny gold flavor. They had some of the Dizzy games, but I always preferred Fantastic Dizzy on Genesis.

The Dip Switches were on the front for sure...I was thinking after I posted that it may have been a Camerica carts...but I just don't know anymore. I have most of the Camerica carts and this cart just was very plain...
The year this would have been would have been about '93-'94 so who knows, plus my friend was a huge gamer, only child, with a million games. But then again, we were only 8 or 9 years old.
THIS is so frustrating!

It could have been an actual cart then, the gold ones were just given away as a part of a contest. It's very possible that your friend won one(several people had to). Just imagine, you actually got close enough to touch one. Lucky guy. Maybe your friend still has it.

It might have been an actual cart, in which case, you were lucky.
Do you still have contact with him?

NO!! That is what has bothered me too. I have no way of contacting him and we haven't talked in 13 years since I moved out of the city of Philly.
I tried for the last couple years to find him on Facebook to no avail...I am thinking more and more that he did get the cart somehow. I would have no doubt that he was in the contest (but I doubt it) or if he or his family knew someone to get it.
I know I am not crazy. I would like to think it was another easy to find cart, I can't think of anything else it could have been.

My Ultimate Stuntman has the dip switch on the back and it's gold. I have Mig-29 Soviet Fighter, but I can't remember whether it has one or not. I played it once to see if it worked and that was enough for me.

Well, there exists only one NES game with DIP switches on the front.
Nintendo World Championship 1990.
Sorry man.

I just scanned the Quattro cart I own, for illustrative purposes.

Nope. Looked nothing like that cart. Definitely beginning to think the little bastard had a NWC Gold cart (SOMEHOW!) and I was too young and dumb to realize it. I distinctly remember the hole with switches on the front that could be moved....shit

I also had a gold cart with multiple games on it never worked that well at all. Half the time when you pushed it in the cart would bring up a pink screen. Later in my top load NES you would have to swtich between A&B to get the game to work, took several flips and reloads. This cart had Dizzy and Robin Hood those being the only two games I remeber.

Caltron 6-in-1? I thought I saw a picture of one with switches once, although what I just saw on Google was only a slightly unusual cartridge shape.
